You don't compair two different companies' polling reports and say there is a jump of 6 points. They use different methodologies.
I don't think you can compare different polls like this to determine public reaction to the news. The methodology differs from poll to poll, so the real indicator is the trend within each poll - which may tell the same story, of course.

At some point, Bush's ratings will go up simply because people are tired of hearing him being bashed on the news, and the endless "his poll numbers suck" stories. I think I've seen a story every-single-day on the news now about how bad Bush's ratings are. That's gotta be p!ssing some people off by now.
