Bush set for immigration speech

BUSH SET FOR IMMIGRATION SPEECH

WHITE HOUSE President Bush is getting set for a prime-time speech on
immigration tomorrow night.

Aides note the 8 p-m, Eastern Time, speech will be the president's first from the Oval Office that does not involve Iraq and the war on terrorism. And they say that reflects Bush's
"passion" on immigration.

He's speaking as the Senate is poised to clear a compromise measure including his idea for a guest worker program. However, a rival House bill is limited to a border crackdown, and meshing the two won't be easy.

Stand Up For America !

"We have room for but one flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

An anti immigration rights supporter is seen through a U.S. flag during a rally in Washington, May 12, 2006. U.S. President George W. Bush and many members of the Republican-led U.S. Congress are divided over how to address the issue of up to 12 million illegal immigrants working in the United States, with conservatives pressing for tougher border security.

Terrorists are among us as undocumented immigrants

Though Osama bin Laden may be the instigator and financier of terror, the war crimes of Tuesday last were carried out by men who live among us. The enemy is already inside the gates. How many others among our 11 million “undocumented” immigrants are ready to carry out truck bombings, assassinations, sabotage, skyjackings?

Freedom of speech - Use it or lose it

When they took away the 4th Amendment, we were quiet, because we didn't deal drugs.
When they took away the 6th Amendment, we were quiet, because we were innocent.
When they took away the 2nd Amendment, we were quiet, because we don't own guns.
Now they have taking away the 1st Amendment, and very soon, if we continue to be quiet, we will have no choice, but to be continue to be quiet.

No compromise! No concessions! No quarter!

Secure the border!

Crack down on employers!
(The dog-and-pony show catch-and-release won't cut it either.)

No anchor babies!

Deport illegal aliens.
(Not mass deportation, deportation on contact. Is it too much to expect taxpayer funded government authorities to enforce the laws on the books?

Bring in immigrants who have been waiting for years with papers in hand!

Nothing else will do.

The Senate Citizenshhip Give Away Bill and other Freebies for Illegal Aliens

Senate Poised to Launch Broad Immigration Debate Monday May 11, 2006
by Congressional Quarterly

Senate leaders have cleared the way for a freewheeling debate on immigration starting Monday that is likely to occupy the chamber for the two weeks leading up to the Memorial Day recess. Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., and Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., announced they will launch a no-holds-barred floor debate over immigration legislation addressing border security, a temporary guest worker program and a path to legalization for millions of undocumented immigrants already in the United States.

If the Senate, as expected, refuses to limit debate on a pending small-business health insurance bill, the immigration bill will be on the floor Monday, Frist said. Frist and Reid reached agreement on the appointment of Senate conferees to negotiate a final bill with the House, which passed its own immigration measure last December.

There will be 26 Senate conferees, an unusually large group. The top seven Republicans and five Democrats from the Judiciary Committee will serve, along with seven additional senators from each party to be named by Frist and Reid.

However, if we don't stop the President and the Senate from pushing Amnesty down our throats by May 31 - which they have vowed to do - then there won't be any illegal aliens - they will become citizens and the contractors won't be breaking the law.. Put your efforts into stopping the House / Senate compromise - Conferee Committe than will we working starting Monday to ram Amnesty down our throats. ~Joe

If amnesty passes, the program conditions (such as background checks, back tax payment, etc.) will, of course, fail and the typical government oops will not help a decimated country.

It may not seem like it in the MSM but we ARE making progress.

No Quarter indeed! America is not just an idea...

4. VOTERS ARE GIVING OPEN-BORDERS FOLKS A LOT OF GRIEF -- Cannon story

Rep. Cannon's problems today are similar to what we are saying in many locales across the country. Voters are starting to make a real difference.

A couple of years ago, Cannon was bragging that he was the White House point man in the House for Bush's efforts for a guestworker/amnesty program.

He appeared at the National Council of La Raza to receive an award for his championing of illegal aliens and he was widely quoted in national media giving the reasons why illegal aliens are good for America.

Two years ago, Matt Throckmorton kept Cannon from getting the 60% of GOP convention votes necessary to go on the ballot in the fall. That is almost unheard of for an incumbent Congressman, but Cannon's immigration positions gave Throckmorton a good handle to turn. Cannon went on to win the primary but with only 58% of the Republican voters supporting him.

Ever since then, Cannon has been a little more careful and has voted pretty well on enforcement issues while continuing to push for amnesties and massive guestworker programs.

Political newcomer John Jacob (a wealthy land developer) mounted a strong challenge to Cannon based on his support for amnesty and not only denied Cannon his 60% but actually beat him 52-48.

That means the Republican voters of Utah's 3rd Congressional District will get a chance to cast a clear immigration vote a month from now, deciding whether Cannon or Jacob will be the Republican nominee on the November ballot.

This is a huge development, especially since the Wall Street Journal and Grover Norquist have been claiming for a couple of years that Cannon's victory in '04 was proof that our immigration-reduction message just can't win at the polls.

Jacob needs to be better still on immigration. All of you in Utah need to really press him to become a clearer champion of our issues. To send him an immigration survey, click here.

We had another victory at the polls in the last week in Nebraska.

Congressman Tom Osborne lost his primary attempt to run for governor. As a long-time hero football coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, with huge margins of victory in the past and with an endorsement by Sen. McCain just before the primary, Osborne had looked like a sure thing.

But he lost. And even he said that one of the main reasons for his loss was his support for in-state tuition for illegal aliens. His opponent stood firm against providing incentives for illegal aliens.

Osborne was a lackluster Member of Congress on our issues, with a B-minus. He wasn't that bad. But Nebraska voters made it clear that they prefer somebody a little more excited about protecting them from out-of-control immigration.

BTW, McCain spoke at the Utah convention before the vote on Cannon. McCain did his usual plea for a massive guestworker program (which, for him, includes citizenship for illegal aliens and future guestworkers). Cannon has been one of the most enthusiastic supporters in the House for solutions like the ones offered by McCain.

If McCain had an effect on the delegates, it was to remind them why they didn't like Cannon.

The Herndon, Virginia City Council was overturned by the voters over immigration.

The decision by the Herdon City Council to use public funds to set up a center for mostly illegal-alien day laborers created a controversy that got national attention.

But when the mayor and city council members came up for re-election, the voters through out all but one of the incumbents seeking re-election. The mayor is gone. The new mayor and five of the six council members was elected on a platform of opposing providing incentives to illegal aliens.

I never thought in a MILLION YEARS that I would post something from Al Gore, and agree. THIS ......hit me.

Don't believe we ought to have amnesty

BUSH: I don't believe we ought to have amnesty. I don't think we ought to reward illegal behavior. There are plenty of people standing in line to become a citizen. And we ought not to crowd these people ahead of them in line. If they want to become a citizen, they can stand in line, too. Kerry supported amnesty for illegal aliens.

KERRY: The borders are more leaking today than they were before 9/11. We haven't done what we need to do to toughen up our borders, and I will. We need a guest-worker program, but if it's all we have, it's not going to solve the problem. We need to crack down on illegal hiring. It's against the law in the US to hire people illegally, and we ought to be enforcing that law properly. We need an earned-legalization program for people who have been here for a long time, stayed out of trouble, got a job, paid their taxes, and their kids are American. We got to start moving them toward full citizenship, out of the shadows.
