Bush set for immigration speech

BUSH SET FOR IMMIGRATION SPEECH

WHITE HOUSE President Bush is getting set for a prime-time speech on
immigration tomorrow night.

Aides note the 8 p-m, Eastern Time, speech will be the president's first from the Oval Office that does not involve Iraq and the war on terrorism. And they say that reflects Bush's
"passion" on immigration.

He's speaking as the Senate is poised to clear a compromise measure including his idea for a guest worker program. However, a rival House bill is limited to a border crackdown, and meshing the two won't be easy.

Stand Up For America !

"We have room for but one flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Love it....cute little Border Gator!

Apropo of nothing, I made friends with a turtle today. Took a nice break in nature at the paleontology museum.

Lindsey Graham is a misguided, insulting dunce. If SC was inundated by illegals, his love song would sound much different.

You know AZ Carolyn. The problem with this whole debacle, is that most Midwestern, Northern, and Eastern lawmakers just don't get it, because they've never lived it. They read, and on occasion make a tour on the borders...making them instant experts. None of this happened overnight, nor should all the blame fall on the head of GWB. GWB's illegal immigration responsibility came to life, and developed legs on 9-11. He was obligated, to slam the borders closed tight. He didn't, but neither did any other administration since the early 80s, when the invasion of America first started, that crossing five or six administrations of do nothings. Anyone that discussed or raised the issue, was labeled a racist, a typical passage from the democrat’s play book.

Did previous administration do anything...NO. Going back in time, with common knowledge, Mexicans were openly selling false birth certificates, drivers license, social security cards right in front of, and within the shade of L.A.P.D.'s Parker Center. Right across the street from L.A. City Hall, one block away from the USDOJ building, and a few blocks from Roybal Federal Court House. They expanded and moved their counterfeiting operation to McArther Park on 7th and Olivera Street, where the 18th Street and MS-13 gangs were born. Local news crews w/cameras showed on TV, at the ease of obtaining counterfeit anything your heart desired...for a very, very small fee of course. Did local, state, and the federal government’s FBI know about these illegal activities, you bet they did. Why didn't they act??? If you find out, I'm a reasonable person, please let me know.

Yes, ma'am. I once worked in an office building overlooking said oil well. Today, we drove through an oil rich area of Los Angeles and I speculated re turning the city an oil field... 'twould be an improvement in so many ways.

I don't get that, SB. What is AG Gonzales doing speaking for the President? That is so juvenile.

There's a quote from the president later in the article that I like.... so, has Alberto been smoking something?

"We've got to honor the great American tradition of the melting pot," Bush said. "Americans are bound together by shared ideals and appreciation of our history, of respect for our flag and ability to speak the English language."

I thought "melting pot" had become politically incorrect language... I'm glad to see it, because that's what I grew up with.

A Senator who loves his country and seems to be representing his people. What a novel idea!

He is right. They SHOULD be embarrassed!

Hold the line Mr Sessons! I salute you!

I totally missed it, Kimberly. I wonder how many other members of the house were there to witness his speech; that's the important thing.

Sullivan Meets with New Assistant Secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Julie Myers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman John Sullivan met with Julie Myers, the new Assistant Secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to discuss the need for an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presence in Tulsa, through the placement of an Office of Investigations or ICE Agents. Sullivan also highlighted the problems posed by illegal aliens, which the First District law enforcement face on a daily basis.

“I explained to Assistant Secretary Myers that an ICE presence in Tulsa will help reduce the delays in conducting illegal immigrant apprehensions and investigations, and will help serve Oklahoma in enforcing our federal immigration laws,” Sullivan said.

After May 1st, the results of the Mexican boycott were calculated,
Our National retailers reported a whopping 4.2% lower sales for
The Day, and there was a 67.8% reduction in shoplifting.
One retailer commented: "We need more such boycotts"! :-)

Morris Dees has about as much crediblity as Jesse Jackson does. I'd be curious to know how much government money he receives.

They're the sell outs. That makes them the traitors.

Personally that is the way I see it, the same way I did with those that defended Clinton, funny "I" haven't changed a bit
