U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha -- one of the most vocal critics of President Bush's handling of the war in Iraq -- drew cheers and boos during his commencement speech at Seton Hill University on Saturday when he once again called for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops.
"We don't care. This isn't about graduation," Leonard Pierce, of North Huntingdon, the parent of a graduate, called out several times from the audience.
The catcalls prompted shouts from other audience members that Murtha should be allowed to speak. The back-and-forth was clearly audible inside the Katherine Mabis McKenna Center on the Greensburg campus. The small, liberal arts Catholic university is in the heart of Murtha's 12th Congressional District, which he has represented since 1974.
Murtha ignored the brief disruption. Later, he dismissed the heckling as of no great consequence. One student, on his way to get his diploma, told the congressman that graduation was not the place to air the war issue, Murtha said.
"I told him, 'This is America, not Russia,' " Murtha said.

Isn't it funny how the liberals, when told that there remarks or behavior are inappropriate, always invoke "free speech"?
That Marine better not piss off Cardinal Wolsey!
Geoff Monsour, of Latrobe, tells U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha to get off the dias or he will not pay him for the pizza.
Thank you for your service.
Check it!
The other issue he needs a butt chewing about is his role as Chairman Armed Services Committee back in 1993. That's when the Bottom's Up review was conducted and they enacted deeper defense cuts than what Bush 41 recommended when the Soviets went away.
He is the Father of the Broken Army of which he complains about. The milquetoast Repubs have let him skate.
Ahhhh!
there remarks = their remarks
I wonder if these people ever realize the things they did wrong.
Michele Ridge is the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. I am not sure what part in the decision making process Mrs. Ridge had, but she didn't seem 'stunned' or 'shocked' by Murtha's comments on Saturday. BTW, her line about 'never forgetting their commencement' drew a big laugh, and eased some of the tension.
He looks like one of Cardinal Wolsey's minions. Had he said the same traitorous things back then, Henry VIII would have had him beheaded.
