NEW YORK -- The foundation in charge of developing ground zero's memorial and museum has pledged to permanently display the two huge pieces of steel left standing in the shape of a cross after the World Trade Center collapsed.
The World Trade Center Memorial Foundation agreed Friday to find a place for the artifact at the memorial. They said they will consider placing the artifact within the memorial museum.
Officials have yet to decide whether the cross would remain at the site during construction. But they've scrapped plans to temporarily store the cross in a hangar at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The agreement meets the demands of clergy groups.
During recovery efforts in the days after the September 11 attacks, the two intersecting beams were treated with reverence by some rescue workers.
The artifact was interpreted by some as a sign of hope. Religious services were held near where it stood in the smoking rubble.
Wait for the ACLU to file suit.
aclu will have it melted down if they can
Something new for the ACLU to p*ss their pants over. This should be very interesting. Could be be the last "in your face" separation act the ACLU performs? Because if they try it, I think it will be the final straw with Americans.
Exactly what I was thinking too.
It's going to take one huge jar of urine to make this acceptable to the ACLU.....
I'll bet the people who crucified Jesus thought they had gotten their way in their Jihad, too. But then, three days later....not only was the cross bare, the tomb was too.
Memo to Islam: It ain't over until it's over.
LOL!
Take the torch out of Miss Liberty's hand and put the cross there instead.
I'd like a link to your photos.
Thanks.
May I have the link?
Thanks!

Thanks for posting the pics. That's one old rugged cross they ain't messing with if they have any sense left. Once the real infidels, and I don't normally use that kind of verbiage, outnumber the Christians and people who just instinctively cling to crosses in this country, having long since dumped the religion that the crosses represent, all bets are off. That was poor sentence structure. Sorry about that.
May I have the link to your photo site?
Thank you for the pictures. Absolutely strong, beautiful, and inspiring.
Maybe if we explained how the Romans liked to hang Christians on them, the ACLU will change its mind.
I almost forgot- I have five of these Beautiful " Cross " pictures--My friend who works at a Photo Shop had 30 copies made--we framed them.
Some went to my church and some to my sisters church--they were handed out privately to the three families we have between our two churchs who had families who lost their Mothers--so they could have something to put down at their Mothers Grave Sites later today.
For the last 4 years- we have been going to the 5 Catholic Church Shared ORgs groups--and giving what we hope are
" Inspiartional " photos--that the familes can also put in a picture of their loved one the lost in with--to place--and small groups split off and help by accompanying these families to where their cemetaries are located--to give them a little support.
I couldn't go this day..but at least my other siblings went.
We have met so many GREAT! STRONG! people...I just didn't think I myself could take it today--so I am just " spreading the word " as best I can--that MANY " Mothers " are missing from their loved ones families--because of Sept. 11th!
WE SHOULD NEVER FORGET!!!! NEVER!

Some? BS.
I'm not religious at all and even I was taken with that cross. It's impossible for me to believe that even 9 or 10 of the people working at the WTC site didn't look upon the cross with reverence.
