The funny thing is, the dem-controlled NM state government is imploding around Rutie's ears. Nearly every day the local paper, (which is not conservative by any means) has ANOTHER front page article about ANOTHER state official that has been caught with his/her hand in the cookie jar, and this morning there was an expose on the free flights provided to Rutie on a corporate jet owned by a maker of spitless tobacco who was lobbying the state....bet Rutie is spittin' mad about this one, lol.

Hadn't seen that one. Just put it here on FR:

"What about reforms in Mexico to keep his citizens from fleeing by the millions?"

AC - I haven't seen the thread yet, but I was thinking the exact same thing when I heard FNC announce the Fox call.

As I mentioned yesterday, one of the things that really burns my cookies is that they have the resources to be a very wealthy country, in fact, they do have some very wealthy individuals (read an article yesterday in which they have some of the top billionaires in the world - - one of which is #3). However, the wealthy folks have pressured and/or paid off their legislature not to raise their taxes of 12%. I'm a conservative and believe in cutting taxes (as President Bush has pushed through) rather than raising them. However, 12% for billionaires and millionaires is nothing - - especially when the country's infrastructure and social services are falling apart. They try to keep taxes and healthcare and other expenses down by encouraging their poor people and criminals to migrate to America, illegally. They have tons of oil and aren't developing the facilities to properly develop/refine it, but, they won't let foreign (such as US) investors come in and do it. Yet, they tried to enact a law allowing various drugs to be legal. No one has mentioned this, but I have a feeling that Pres Bush called Vincente and told him that if he signed that bill, he was toast as far as the US was concerned (IIRC Fox had said previously that if the legislature passed it (which they did), he would sign it).

They don't allow legal aliens to have any rights in their country (including owning real estate as I understand), but, they scream racists and everything else when Americans don't want people who are breaking the law (illegals) in our country.

While we have issues here that need to be addressed, the Mexican government hasn't done one thing to help, quite the contrary.

I didn't post a link to the article about the wealthy in Mexico yesterday - here it is:

List of Mexican billionaires (Carlos Slim, 3rd richest man in the world)
answers.com/ ^ | 2006.

Posted on 05/11/2006 8:31:06 AM PDT by dennisw

This is a list of Mexican billionaires according to estimates by Forbes magazine.

Shown below are Mexicans with net fortunes above one billion United States dollars (or its equivalent in other currencies) as of 2006.

>snip
"Just call him Midas. Latin America's richest man upped his wealth this year by an incredible $10 billion, thanks to a growing and diverse empire that includes holdings in retail, banking and insurance, and auto parts manufacturing. Shares of his flagship wireless telecom outfit, América Movil, soared 76% during the year. And his fixed-line operator, Telefonos de Mexico, or Telmex, is reportedly gearing up to double its customer base this year, primarily in Mexico, by signing up 600,000 broadband Internet subscribers. As one of its largest shareholders, Slim was purportedly contemplating taking MCI private—until Verizon bid to acquire the beaten-down phone company in February. Said to have one of Latin America's largest collections of Rodin sculptures; is also the founder of Foundation of the Historic Center of Mexico City, dedicated to restoring colonial buildings in Mexico City's historic city center."

And this is an excerpt from one of the posts on that thread:

"Mexico has more "Forbes" billionaires, 11, than all but eight other nations. It has more billionaires than Saudi Arabia, Switzerland or Taiwan. It also has more than 85,000 millionaires. According to a CNN report, Mexico sits on oil reserves worth about $400 billion, but Mexico's state-owned oil company, Pemex, doesn't have the investment funds to tap those reserves, and Mexico's Congress refuses to allow foreign investment in Pemex. However, some observers say this is due to Mexican gov't corruption, and the obsession to line their own pockets."

Mexico's Slim Moves On Univision (Mexican billionaire invades US business world)
NY Post ^ | April 20, 2006 | ZACHERY KOUWE

Posted on 04/20/2006 3:31:31 AM PDT by Liz

The powerful family of Carlos Slim - the world's third richest man, with a $30 billion fortune - bought a huge stake in Spanish-language television giant Univision .....It signals that the Slim family, which owns several Latin American companies, could be planning to participate in a buyout of Univision or is trying to block a takeover by another suitor.

Slim purchased 8.5 million Univision shares between March 9 and March 20...... The family now controls about 2.8 percent of Univision's outstanding shares through its real estate company, Inmobiliaria Carso. Carlos Slim's son sits on the board of Mexican company Grupo Televisa SA, which owns nearly 11 percent of Univision and has a lucrative broadcasting agreement with Univision.

Grupo Televisa said ......it is not acting in partnership with the Slim family.

Foreign companies can own only 25 percent of US-based broadcasters, and Televisa together with the Cisneros family, which controls Venezuela's biggest broadcaster, Venevision, own nearly that much of Univision.

"horrid little man" is a far more appropriate and descriptive title than his name. Unfortunately, it does not uniquely describe Neil Gabler. There are several others on the left that also warrant this title. Fortunately, though, it is unique for the panelists on Fox News Watch, so no other qualifiers are required.

I think I will leave that decision to the person that posts it...YOU, if you don't mind.

Maybe we could ask the opinion of the others..

I don't know if Tony will have time to check it daily, or if doing a daily one would be easier for him...he could scan a relatively small number....than say a weeks worth that could run up to 1000...LOL

So...I think whatever you think might be easiest for YOU, and for Tony to "handle"...with his busy, busy day.

Most freepers are able to pick out trolls in a NY minute, but others particularly one issue freepers with harsh rhetoric are so angry they are oblivious to the trolls. They would be on threads that were slamming the President,Cheney,Harriet Miers,Gonzalez,Condi or whoever, and the Trolls would sneak in and they were at home slamming with the freepers who welcomed them with open arms not noticing they were trolls, even when the language turned filthy and very harsh, and went off in other rants on other subjects. When it was pointed out to them they were dismissive, but the threads usually stopped dead in their tracks after the trolls were outed.

They ruin every thread they invade, and pretty soon they are about 8 freepers that are stuck on Immigration talking to themselves. Everybody else leaves in disgust, and they don't understand that they are treated like lepers for a reason. Nobody wants to come anywhere near a thread they are on. They do not debate, or talk reasonably for their point of view ,they rant and rave.

Top Seven Insurgent Lies

All of these are 100% actual, satisfactual verbal exchanges I have witnessed.
Number 7.
Us: Where is your husband?
Them: He died in a car accident.
Us: Who is this guy?
Them: A stranger we invited over to take care of the family.

Number 6.
Us: [in Arabic] What’s your name?
Them: No speak English.
Us: That wasn’t English!

Number 5.
Us: Why do you have someone else’s birth certificate?
Them: I found it on the street.

Number 4.
Them: It wasn’t us that shot at you. It was three other masked men who then jumped in a car and left.
[From three men caught with a trunk full of weapons, after having shot at us.]

Number 3.
Them: This isn’t my ID. It is his (gesturing towards detainee next to him).
Us: Then why is your picture on it?

Number 2.
Us: Why do you plant IEDs in the road?
Them: Because it damages the road and then the Americans fix it and make it better.

And the top insurgent lie I have heard.
Us: Can you show us where Bob (name substitution) lives?
Them: That will create a problem between our families.
Us: Right now you have a problem with us.

Sen. Clinton’s Joint Fundraising Committee Reports Largest Donors
5/11/2006
Sen. Hillary Clinton’s joint fundraising committee during her 2000 campaign, New York Senate 2000, filed amendments on January 30, 2006, reporting Stan Lee provided $225,000 in in-kind concert expenses, and Peter Paul’s two Delaware holding companies Paraversal Inc. and Excelsior Productions Inc. provided $838,902 in concert, dinner and reception expenses. The expenses were for the committee’s Event 39, an August 2000 gala at the time of the Democratic national convention. View pages of amendment report relating to Event 39. In earlier reports the committee's non-federal account had also reported receiving $250,000 each from AFSCME, SEIU, and S. Daniel Abraham.

The committee was a joint fundraising operation and had a federal and non-federal account. The above expenses were reported as a non-federal share. The amendments were required as part of a December 2005 conciliation agreement with the Federal Election Commission. The committee and its treasurer, Andrew Grossman, agreed to pay a $35,000 civil penalty for not filing complete reports.

However, in a phone interview this week, Peter Paul alleged the report filing is still not correct. He alleges that he personally, not his companies or Stan Lee, paid for the in-kind services totaling $1,063,902. Paul filed suit against the former President Clinton and Senator Clinton in February 2004 charging both with conspiring with others to commit fraud, deceit and conspiracy. In October 2004 the California Supreme Court denied review of an appeal by the Clintons to have the case dismissed. The trial is set for March 27, 2007.

On April 7, 2006, Senator Clinton provided a declaration in this case.

Although the federal account of New York Senate 2000 has amended their reports with the Federal Election Commission, the non-federal account (a Section 527 organization) of the committee has not filed corresponding amendments with the I.R.S.

WaPo Editorial in Favor of NSA Datamining
It's not often that I find myself in agreement with a Washington Post editorial:

On Thursday, USA Today reported that three U.S. telecommunications companies have been voluntarily providing the National Security Agency with anonymized domestic telephone records -- that is, records stripped of individually identifiable data, such as names and place of residence. If true, the architect of this program deserves our thanks and probably a medal. That architect was presumably Gen. Michael Hayden, former director of the NSA and President Bush's nominee to become director of the Central Intelligence Agency.
This "betrayal" by the WaPo will no doubt infuriate the Democratic lunatic fringe.

Another curious little facet of what CBS chooses to describe as a "scandal" is the lack of information in the mainstream media about the Qwest chief executive who chose to thumb his nose at the NSA's request for anonymous calling data, Joseph Nacchio. While accounts describe Nacchio as the "former" CEO of Qwest, they tend not to mention why he left. This is why:

Washington, D.C., March 15, 2005 - The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged Joseph P. Nacchio, former co-chairman and chief executive officer of Qwest Communications International Inc., and eight other former Qwest officers and employees with fraud and other violations of the federal securities laws. In three separate but related civil actions, the Commission alleges that, between 1999 and 2002, the Qwest defendants engaged in a multi-faceted fraudulent scheme designed to mislead the investing public about the company's revenue and growth.
Interesting, the only communications executive who obstructed the NSA effort is under criminal indictment.

I still think there's a good chance, as I wrote earlier, that the "leak" of the NSA program was deliberate, and designed to force Democrats into the open with their unpopular opposition to lawful surveillance programs.

Snail Mail A Terrorist.
Zacarias Moussaoui has been moved to the Federal Supermax Prison in Florence Co.

CNN : Moussaoui was removed from the Alexandria, Virginia, detention center on Friday night and flown to Colorado on a service nicknamed "Con Air."

A team of deputy U.S. marshals delivered him early Saturday to the federal Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado. The prison is sometimes called the "Alcatraz in the Rockies."

"It is a place of extraordinary security, 23 hours a day in cells, one hour of recreation," CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said at the time of Moussaoui's sentencing earlier this month in U.S. District Court in Alexandria.

"It is as close to permanent solitary confinement as exists in our prison system," Toobin said.

So the rotting has begun. Let’s all send him a note so he really has to dig to find that letter from mommy. Remember be civil (no threats of any kind) and tell him how glad you are that he will never see the light of day. I got his new address here at the FBOP

David Savage Propagandizes Against Brett Kavanaugh

i just ran across this David Savage article about Brett Kavanaugh from last Tuesday. As you no doubt have already guessed, it is propaganda through and through, beginning with the headline:

Not that I have any desire to ring the Iran nuclear alarmist bell any moreso than I’ve done already the last two days, but, well...“Pakistan’s former chief of staff: Iran probably has the bomb". Do read the whole thing.

Factor in this information, which comes from Mirza Aslam Beg (who claims to have met with the Iranians concerning nuclear weapons 15 years ago) with the rest of what Iran has been up to of late, and it’s beginning to look a lot like the coming of nuclear winter.
