Hillary Clinton 'Deeply Disturbed' Over NSA Surveillance
Newsmax.com ^ | 5/12/06

Posted on 05/13/2006 8:27:44 PM PDT by peggybac

2008 presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton said Thursday that she was "deeply disturbed" to learn that the National Security Agency was data-mining phone records to track down terrorists.

"Like many Americans, I am deeply disturbed" over the NSA program, she said in a statement posted to her Senate web site.

"We all deserve to know why the NSA has blocked the Department of Justice from investigating the NSA’s domestic surveillance program and why it has created an enormous database of Americans’ phone records," she complained.

Mrs. Clinton suggested that using phone records to track down terrorists was unconstitutional, saying the latest NSA revelations "further demonstrate what happens to our Constitution, laws, and privacy when there is no meaningful congressional oversight of the president’s actions.

She urged Congress to "get the bottom of this." "I join my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in demanding answers about the NSA’s domestic surveillance program and the NSA’s use of Americans’ phone records. We must defend our homeland while also defending our Constitution, laws, and privacy."

Yeah, deeply disturbed is certainly the truth about her--along with deeply possessed, imho.

But I don't think we should expect a 2nd truthful statement out of her in the same century.

Of all the people to say this, she has the least authority.

It was her and her husband that ordered the FBI files of 700+ Republicans and media personnel to be handled by a bouncer who was unable to pass the FBI background check.

That was a grotesque abuse of power. Recording the phone records of people during an active war for foreign power abuse is angelic in comparison.

Very astute! It is because the democrats think in terms of using things like this against their 'enemies' in politics that they assume everyone would do it. Degenerate minds cannot help but reason that way don'tchaknow.

Now if we could just get the Republicans to talk about this just a tad during Hayden's hearings next week, we'll be in business.

You are great- thanks for your research! How do we get the words out. I am confident that all FReepers do the usual emails to Congress people- not heard.
Tackle individual media shows- perhaps. The blogs all of them seem is talk to eachother but after that is over and we have said our peace- should we not search out the individual wrong that is in the AP, Google News, oh so many....

They had an investigation, and the democrats supported the spying on American citizens when Clinton was president.

And when the conservatives stay home and elect Hillary into power she will support it again and usurp the "hawk" mantle from the Conservatives who were formally in power assuring long term liberal dominance in Congress and on the Supreme Court.

Why are they so silent about Clinton using it for everything? Even the pundits must know about the investigations during the 1990's and Clinton using it against everyone and everything just because he felt like it. What gives?

Clearly, Democrats (and some RINOs) have manufactured their outrage over this already reported on program

"Manufactred...outrage", I couldn't have said it better.

Mrs. Clinton suggested that using phone records to track down terrorists was unconstitutional

Unconstitutional? What is she nuts? I want them to use any means possible to protect me from these madmen.
