True, but reserve troops can only be involuntarily mobilized for 24 months out of any given 60 month period (absent a declaration of war). As many NG units (or individual NG soldiers as fillers in other units) have already been mobilized for 18 months or so to Iraq or Afghanistan, where are these NG troops going to come from?
I have already done two 15 month mobilizations (and I got $1000 a month bonus pay for volunteering to go over 24 months and that bonus is only available overseas), so I can't go again unless I volunteer (not going to happen-already spent too much time away from my wife).

You poison the atmosphere with your insults, intimidation, and irrational attacks.
You guys both know that I am more on Spiff's side of the argument than on Howlins' but I would just like to point out to you Spiff, that it is up to you how much to be intimidated by a fellow freeper.

The National Guard is composed of citizens with civilian jobs, so that no one contingent could stay on the border indefinitely. Further they are a combat force and guard duty is an underutilization of their capability. Better would be a new full time volunteer border guard force. I believe many people would volunteer. Further since it is primarily guard duty you could recruit people from 18 to 65.

(Possible future news) ;) (Like Rush would say, "I know these libs like the back of my hand")
Upon publication of the National Guard being sent to the southern borders, the ACLU announced a mass evacuation of members and sympathizer in San Francisco and New York City, to the southern borders to keep an eye on the troops. The Chairman of the ACLU, said "We are there to make sure the rights of undocumented immigrants are not violated. We will sue each guardperson that wrinkle these poor people's clothing. We will sue for dry cleaning and laundry money if that is what it takes. "
More fictional but likely news...
Senator Arlen Spector announced legislation not allowing the troops stationed on the borders to carry weapons. Senator Spector said, we don't want another Gitmo here in this country. We have future judges here among these people, to be selected by the Clinton Administration. This will help Ms Clinton Diversity plan.
Thats all the most likely news or hope not likely news.

After all, this is just the internet, not real life. Words on a screen.

I didn't call you a liar, I said your statement was a lie, and it was absolutely proven by Spiff. Calling you a liar would to me mean that you had made the same claim or similar repeatedly. To my knowledge you haven't, so I'd stop short of calling you a liar.
As for name calling, either you're for border enforcement or you're a member of the OBL. There's no grey area here. Based on your "they still won't be happy" type assertions I can only come to the conclusion that you are not of the border enforcement type.
As for the Sweetheart/Sweetie stuff, don't bother hitting on me, my wife is all I need. I'd like to be able to say I'm flattered, but I'm not.

Here's the thing, as I see it. I haven't been on FR as long as you have, but it seems to me that public threads and messages are open for discussion. If I write something in a thread, I expect other FReepers to respond to it, if they choose to. Often, those reponses are in disagreement with what I wrote. There it is. I post in a public forum, and others respond. ...so what you're proposing is FReeper amnesty for illegal responders who come across named FReeper replies and steal them for their own thoughts. Hey, they're just doing posting that others won't/can't do;)
To: Spiff
You'll notice the drop occurred in 2000, Spiff. Gee, that was before Dubya took office, wasn't it? I don't suppose something significant might have happened then regarding immigration, do you?

I suspect flim flam. W sends troops to the border, we all think " Gee whiz! He really is serious about border / illegal alien control ", his guest worker - amnesty for all bill is signed into law, troops removed from border a short time later.

I believe many people would volunteer. Further since it is primarily guard duty you could recruit people from 18 to 65. Good idea.....we can start the recruitment right here on FR....a lot of freepers have been spewing about the Guard on the border for weeks, I'm sure they will be more than happy to volunteer for the duty..

Massive deportation of illegal immigrants is out of the question economically. But I think we should start up a guest worker program with mandatory registration within 12 months for anyone here illegally. We need to know who is here and what they're doing here. Any illegal immigrants who don't register or are found to be criminals would then be deported.
I tell you though, if we really seal the border then Mexico may have to deploy its own army after drug smugglers go berserk in Mexico when their business is shut down. Mexico may have to deploy its own army, or at least the army units that aren't allies of drug dealers.
