WASHINGTON The Pentagon is looking at ways the military can help provide more security along the U.S. southern border, defense officials said Thursday, once again drawing the nation's armed forces into a politically sensitive domestic role.
On Capitol Hill on Thursday, the House voted 252-171 to allow Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld to assign military personnel under certain circumstances to help the Homeland Security Department perform border security. The House added the provision to a larger military measure.
Paul McHale, the assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense, asked officials this week to come up with options for the use of military resources and troops particularly the National Guard along the border with Mexico, according to defense officials familiar with the discussions. No it's more like lets just tell the chumps somthing they want to hear so we will be REelected they fall for it everytime yawn.
Wonder if anyone bothers to ask their Idol Janet Nappie why she doesn't send the AZ Guard herself? She is their Commander not the President. Seems we have another female Dem Governor that would rather squeal for the Cameras then do her job
Why don't all the whine Governors order in their state Nat Guard themselves? The Gov of the State, not the President, controlls the National Guard until it is Federalized. Why do we even BOTHER having States since they seem completly incapable of doing ANYTHING usless the Feds hold their hands?
Plus they aren't trained to be LE officers.
Troops are trained to hurt people (the right ones)
and break stuff belonging to the right people.
As sure as West Texas is hot they'll hurt some rancher,
off his cattle, shoot up his pickup truck.. not what we intended.
Real solution is the Wall, and lots more Border Security
officers with LE training and powers.
We need the military all along the border, if we aren't going to build a wall.
Didn't arizona governor state she was going to do this, but doesn't have the funds to do it?
lol, they will probably be setting up food and water stations with first aid too boot.

If this happens, it means that amnesty is right around the corner, and this is all the House has left to do in order to keep this country from over flowing with illegals. Good Luck!
The troops hands are already tied and they haven't even been deployed yet. If we put troops on the border it still isn't going to change the fact that illegals can re-enter as many times as they like.
I noticed that they have already tried to appease those who oppose having troops on the border by negating their role as being a "supportive" role only.
