Thinking of Throwing a Tantrum in November?
Shameless Vanity | 5-11-06 | Burr5

Posted on 05/11/2006 8:25:42 PM PDT by Burr5

There has been a rising tide of opinion expressed these last few days on Talk Radio regarding the impulse to vote against Republicans in the upcoming congressional election in order to punish them for their whorish pandering to illegal aliens, their fiscal irresponsibility, and their general disregard of the demands of the conservative base. I have heard echoes of this on Rush Limbaugh, Mike Gallagher, Laura Ingraham, Glenn Beck and Bill O'Rielly.

We should be worried about this attitude. Especially those of us who remember 1992. In George H.W. Bush's second presidential attempt, a conservative rebellion (over tax policy) and the insurgent candidacy of a purported "economic conservative" (Ross Perot), resulted in the election of the most venal, irresponsible, demogogic criminal in the history of American politics. 43% of the electorate was enough to give us eight years of Clinton.

So would sitting this one out, or voting for a Libertarian get us closer to where we want to be? Everyone realizes that a conservative temper tantrum at the polls will only serve to grant power to the Democrats. Would this "teach the Republicans a lesson"?

Perhaps. But where would we be then? We are at war. The Democrats believe the war is Bush's fault. 9-11 was an aberation. It will not happen again even if we don't listen in on Al-Qaeda's phone conversations. We will be safe if we pull out of Iraq. There will NEVER be a justification for bombing Iran's nuclear facilities. There will be no more war for oil, and yet the Caribou in ANWR will still be safe from the predations of Exxon-Mobil.

Domestically, we can expect the likes of Charles Rangle and Ron "Red" Dellums to hold the reins of power in the House of Representatives. The Bush economy will not be destroyed; things will simply become more "fair" for women and minorities.

And, of course, the great gains we are making in the corrupt, tyrannical judiciary will come to a screeching halt. If you're alright with the "right" of irresponsible young women to hire doctors to shove a metal implement into the skull of their partially born babies, and to have them crack open the skulll, vacuum out the brain matter as the tiny arms silently flap around, and then throw the corpse into the trash, then the make-up of congress may not be of much importance to you when the next confirmation hearing comes around. Chairman Leahy- Say no more.

Politics is a TEAM SPORT, ladies and gentlemen, and one does not express one's dissatisfaction with the team's effort by aiding the opposing team.

Do not let the party of treason, greed, corruption, infanticide, demogougerey, hypocricy and judicial tyranny gain power.

It could take another forty years to get it back.

People get fired up about an issue that means something to them and you call them "children"?

Yes. Knee-jerk reactions never solved anything. Except on the playground. Especially since this issue is still fluid. NOTHING has happened yet, legislation-wise. They're still workin' it around.

It's the Democrats who have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to run on who are guiding this. They would like to divide conservatives in 2006. They would like that VERY much.

Don't fall for it. It's the oldest trick in the book. If you can't beat 'em, divide 'em.

I am a conservative and I voted for Bush twice.

Of the people, for the people and by the people does not mean special interest groups or a select few.

Personally, I am furious and will vote for a candidate who
will do the will of the people (not bought).

Well my understanding was that he was never for a felony provision in the first place. I might be mistaken but I thought that was a Democrat poison pill that they put in the bill.

I want 537 Joe Arpaio's in office. That's my expectation. I've seen what just having the Presidency, Senate, and House majority only has done. Apparently you can have the majority in all but if you don't have balls then you roll over and play dead for the Defacates, 'scuse me , Desacrates, 'scuse me once again, Demo--, no, Democr-- Aw, fergit it. I still havn't been able to pronounce that name right.

In March, illegal immigration was an issue for 4% of the population as a whole. Now its around 15-16% for the country. 12 Million plus illegals didnt get here in the last 6 years. This has been a problem for decades and only other president that has dealt with this volatile issue was a conservative president, Pres Reagan and President Bush gets treated like crap for wanting to find a sensible solution to this problem? All of a sudden, the President is to blame for everything and we are supposed to solve this problem overnight... Are people that clueless??

Some are clueless, some are trolls, and both of them are less than helpful. (and that's putting it ever so nicely)

As Rush always says: "Being Conservative wins every time it's tried."

I love Rush, but this is news to folks in Maine, Oregon, Washington, California to name a few.

The fact is the immigration issue has become the perfect storm here on FR, and it colors every thread and pits otherwise like minded Freepers against each other. Exactly as the Dimms and their allies in the MSM hope will happen.

Don't some of you think it's at least a good idea to see Harry Reids or Pelosi's immigration plan before we cut off our nose to spite our face?

I've been active in the immigration control movement since before we put 187 on the ballot, and that was in 1994. Your sudden discovery that you 'patrolled' the border doesn't match your indifference to the issue just a few posts back. Maybe you need an introduction to your other personality, the one who couldn't give a rat's behind about the subject.

And they will pass a large, pro immigrant bill giving illegals the right to vote, welfare, amnesty, instant citizenship, and immigration corridors

There is a liberal group that is touring the country and handing out voter registration cards to illegals starting next week. Their goal is to sign up 1 million before November. So, what do they not get without instant citizenship?

Frist is already working on Amnesty

Anyway, there are a lot of single issue freepers and that issue is immigration. Basically, these single issue voters are not conservatives. Like other single issue voters, they may not even be normal people (who are usually multi issue voters).

>>Earth to you......we are in a battle for civilization against Islamic Fundamentalism. Piling on this president at this time is inexcusable.

HOW HYSTERICAL! Hey....you might want to check our open borders to see if any islamic terrorists are walking across OUR UNPROTECTED BORDERS!<<

They are both serious concerns but neither supports hysteria. The united States has faced overwhelming problems before, WW2, the cold war, race issues, women's issues and previous immigration issues.

We will come through the way we have always come through by sticking together on what is most important. Some of us come late to the party and a few never get it, even at the end but America always comes through.

We need to deal with each of these issues without compromising key American values and without throwing away the liberties that make us great. Since conservatives are taking the lead on both immigration and terrorism issues it is important that we not fight too much over which is more important - they are both important but neither will be solved by turning on our government - we need some government reform, not revolt.

To quote Benjamin Franklin, ``If we do not hang together, we shall all hang seperately.``

Evidently you don't live in California, and have learned nothing from our experience I understand a great deal of California's problems are self inflicted. Now, I know you did not vote the craziness in, but California's legislature and courts, state level, have provided a good bit of the impetus for the illegal tsunami there. Or do I have this incorrect? Did all this happen after 21 Jan ,2001 ?

Im not so sure we should continue to fight the WOT abroad with our backdoors wide open. We need to close the doors of our own nation before we start hitting others. We've already been hit. What's wrong with our leaders?

We've been fighting the WOT since 2001 and so far we haven't been attacked again in spite of the border problem. I'm all for fixing it in a rational way, but obviously we must be doing something right or we wouldn't be sitting here almost 5 years later without an attack.

"People are p!ssed off about illegal immigration and aren't stupid enough to be placated by "guest worker" plans. "

Thats the problem. In the end there will be a meshing of the very border security house bill and the Guest workers plan Senate bill. Its not like it one or the other. Bush knows as well as others there will be no immigration bill if it doesn't have a tough border security component. If people want to have a view that they won't compromise fine. But be careful. We might have a future Congress that will all be guest worker program and no security whatsoever.

"Do not let the party of treason, greed, corruption, infanticide, demogogerey, hypocricy and judicial tyranny gain power."

Do not let anger and frustration cloud your judgment.

The Republicans have been lax. The Democrats actively encourage open borders and illegal immigration because they expect them to increase their base support.

Never loose the farm for a strut in the yard.

The Democrat Party is the Political Arm of the Anti-American, Psychotic, Malevolent Left! Do not empower them!

VOTE REPUBLICAN!

And note tagline.

The Dems would have a difficult time strangling funding for the war effort. That would likely shift the advantage back to Repubs who are perceived to be much stronger on national security issues, and who can block any major cuts in Defense in the Senate whether in the majority or not. Besides, the overwhelming majority in the House just voted for a defense bill that was over what the President requested.

The problem with the current House led by Republicans is that they have abused the power of appropriations in a big way, abetted by a majority of rocking chair Repubs & Dems in the Senate.

Last time I checked, the Republicans were in control of the House, Senate, and White House. The Democrats would have no power to divide the Republican base were it not handed to them by our weak sisters, he RINOs in the Senate.
