Governor Ernie Fletcher has been indicted by the Merit Hiring Grand Jury on charges of conspicacy to commit politcal discrimination. This is culmination of months of investigation by the Attorney General, Greg Stumbo and a blanket pardon from Governor Fletcher. It should be noted that the pardon does not include the governor. FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Gov. Ernie Fletcher was indicted on misdemeanor charges Thursday by a special grand jury investigating state hiring practices.

Fletcher was charged with criminal conspiracy, official misconduct, and violating the prohibition against political discrimination.

The grand jury also handed down 14 sealed indictments.

Grand jury indicts Gov. Ernie Fletcher

Gov. Ernie FletcherThe special grand jury that’s been investigating state government hiring practices indicted Gov. Ernie Fletcher on three misdemeanors for conspiracy, official misconduct and political discrimination.

The jury also indicted former Transportation Cabinet official Sam Beverage for perjury, which is a felony.

And the jury also submitted to Franklin Circuit Judge William Graham 14 more indictments that are under seal.

Those indictments cover crimes that may have occurred before Aug. 29, 2005, when Fletcher pardoned all administration officials except himself.

I really don't understand this. I never heard of political discrimination so hopefully later their will be more news on this. I can't believe another Republican is in trouble. I actually hope that due to my ignorance that I just don't know what the heck this is and maybe this is not as bad as it seems to be.
