Dean slams gay marriage on '700 Club'

Democratic Party Chair Howard Dean has contradicted his party's platform and infuriated gay rights advocates by saying the party's platform states "marriage is between a man and a woman."

Democratic Party Chair Howard Dean, appearing on the Christian Broadcasting Network, erroneously stated that the party's 2004 platform says 'marriage is between a man and a woman.' Christian conservative Pat Robertson is host of the program.

"The Democratic Party platform from 2004 says marriage is between a man and a woman," Dean said May 10 during a "700 Club" program hosted by conservative Christian leader Pat Robertson on his Christian Broadcasting Network.

That statement contradicts the Democratic National Committee's official stance, which was adopted in 2004.

"We support full inclusion of gay and lesbian families in the life of our nation and seek equal responsibilities, benefits, and protections for these families," the platform says.

Within hours of the program's broadcast, the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force denounced Dean's misrepresentation.

"Disturbingly, this is not the first time he has misrepresented this important and affirming plank [of the Democratic Party platform], and he has been asked before to correct the record and to cease making these misleading statements," said Matt Foreman, executive director of the Task Force.

"Governor Dean's record on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues since becoming DNC chair has been sorely and sadly lacking," Foreman said. "The Democratic Party chair should stand by and fight for the party's own platform and values."

Well, even in a gay marriage there seems to be a relationship of domination and submission. Perhaps this is what Dean defines as "man and woman;" using the same language, but with a different meaning. Orwell would be proud.

My first reaction was, "this story is from The Onion. It's GOT to be."

Now I'm going to check it out. This is just too weird.

I've seen photos of Dean's wife. He is not too far from a same sex marriage himself - based on appearances.

Dean is quite politically astute....regardless of his outbursts. In lefty Vermont, they did an endrun around the entire issue of gay marriage by adopting legal partner recognition, aka civil unions.

Please, this is serious! Once illegals get amnesty, they'll push for gay illegal marriage next!

More on Dean inciting the delusional dummies by contemplating and pandering to those who prefer party platforms premised in reality...

I am imagining Dean, sitting there, on the 700 club. Probably couldn't get out of there fast enough! I imagine he cringed the entire time. He couldn't hold his nose on camera, and knew it. LOL

Wonder if his blood pressure went up to a dangerous level.

Dean appearance on 700 club wont fool values voters, he is deluded if he think voters will fall for this.

Democrats think that "values voters" are idiots. It's axiomatic for them. That's the rationale behind appearing on the 700 Club--"Those yokels are so stupid, they'll buy it if I go on there and say we're against homo marriage."

This is the man who proudly declared that Job was his favorite book of the New Testiment.

I know, and Dean ended up being the punchline of the joke because the book of Job is in the OLD Testament.

Yeah, that was hoot and sure showed Dean's true colors. It would be like going to a gathering of Jews and demonstrating you were one of them by saying Revelation was your favorite book of the Talmud.

Kinky Freidman song... Teenage Immigrant Welfare Mothers on Drugs...

This reminds me of a court case I once proofread. The defendant was a Mexican woman who came here illegally and had 2 children by 2 different men. Because her children were born here she was entitled to a Section 8 apartment with Medicaid and other benefits.

That was when I started questioning the Democratic party. After 9/11 I became Republican.
