While John Kerry's and Hillary Clinton's approval ratings are in the low 20's.
If they are "hard core" where are they fleeing to? The dims?
These must be the same Ross Perot Repulicans that brought us Bill Clinton.
I am one of the loyal troops that are upset with Pres. Bush and the republicans in Congress. This doesn't mean I won't vote republican but I sure don't feel like volunteering again to man the phones and helping with the mailings. Just don't have the fire I have had over the last 10 years or so. It is hard to get excited when you know if you win you lose and will have more spending, open borders with amnesty for illegals, a WH that will not stand up for itself. Excuse the ramblings but this is how I feel.
I am not abadoning the President, I will still vote republican. I'd even vote for Jeb Bush for President.
How does one abandon George W since he is not running again?
Sound like Left wing crap to me.
Ops4 God Bless George W.
Amazing frankness from the Com Post.
The Republican Party can win me back by delivering on its conservative agenda.
As for the Bushes - never again. I wouldn't vote for a Bush if he dressed up like George Washington. Their liberal faces have been exposed behind the "compassionate conservative" masks.
nonsense.......political BS
Tony is the Hans Brinker (the Dutch boy who stuck his finger in the dike to save Holland) of modern day U.S.A.
While Tony is resouceful, man does he have his work cut out for him!
Methinks the MSM has finally turned Republicans into Democrats (one-issue voters).
I love President Bush!
Me and the rest of this country's hard core Conservatives will welcome "True" converts over to a new affiliation of True Conservatives. The Rino's and the rest can go take a flyin leap over a high cliff!
No, President Bush has his work cut out for him. The problem is not one of perception or image; it is one of ideology and actions.
uh, oh. So it is all these people who are bashing everyone who complains about the faux conservatism of the Republican party and who call all of us who complain, "fake conservatives" who are the real fake conservatives. They will cherish a pile of dung, if someone tells them it is a rose or Republican.
Gobbles must be so proud!
Many may be disappointed in some things , but are not "fleeing". Clinton, Kerry, Gore and Co are no answer to the problem.
As usual, the comPost writes a headline that doesn't reflect reality. "Hard-core Republicans" are the ones who will stick by the President even though they are not happy about their issue-du-jour (whether it is not pushing the Senate GOP to go through with the nuclear option to get the rest of his judicial appointments confirmed, or not being tough enough on the border, or not using his veto pen, or whatever). The people bailing on the President and the GOP congress are the fair-weather republicans and the wishy-washy independents.
If the hard-core republicans get more active, lobby their congress critters to get off their fat pork-barreling arses and pass some meaningful reforms, spending cuts, an energy policy that allows expanded oil exploration and makes expanded refining capacity feasible, then the wishy-washy indies and the fair-weather republicans would wander back into the fold. But contrary to the sub-high-school level journalism skills of the comPost reporters, "Hardcore Republicans" are much more committed to fighting for the agenda of continued tax cuts, winning the war on terrorism, and promoting economic growth here at home than they are surrendering the fight to the democrats.
