Disaffection over spending and immigration have caused conservatives to take flight from President Bush and the Republican Congress at a rapid pace in recent weeks, sending Bush's approval ratings to record lows and presenting a new threat to the GOP's 12-year reign on Capitol Hill, according to White House officials, lawmakers and new polling data.
Bush and Congress have suffered a decline in support from almost every part of the conservative coalition over the past year, a trend that has accelerated with alarming implications for Bush's governing strategy.
The Gallup polling organization recorded a 13-percentage-point drop in Republican support for Bush in the past couple weeks. These usually reliable voters are telling pollsters and lawmakers they are fed up with what they see as out-of-control spending by Washington and an abandonment of core conservative principles more generally.
There are also significant pockets of conservatives turning on Bush and Congress over the their failure to tighten immigration laws, restrict gay marriage and to put an end to the Iraq war and the rash of political scandals, according to lawmakers and pollsters.
Bush won two presidential elections by pursuing a political and governing model that was predicated on winning and sustaining the loyal backing of social, economic and foreign policy conservatives. The strategy was based on the belief that conservatives, who are often more politically active than the general public, could be inspired to vote in larger numbers and would serve as a reliable foundation for his presidency. The theory, as explained by Bush strategists, is that the president would enjoy a floor below which his support would never fall.
It is now apparent that this floor has weakened dramatically and collapsed in places.

If you've ever eaten in a restaurant, and was served water by an illegal, you're just as "guilty" as I am. Um, not really. And I do not patronize restaurants that I believe hires illegal aliens. If I strongly suspect ANYONE of hiring illegal aliens, I call Border Patrol. I've done it before, I'll do it again. I've turned business owners in to the IRS for non payment of taxes to the illegal aliens they admit to hiring too.
You, on the other hand, bragged about having illegal aliens do remodeling in your home. You recommended them to others and said that their work was better than legal American workers. There's a huge difference between inadvertantly and unknowingly having a contractor bring in illegal labor and bragging about it and giving glowing endorsements of that labor to others. That's what you did. Instead of quitting while you were ahead, like I kept suggesting, you had to keep digging your hole deeper.

That's what you did. Exactly; and that's also in the language of the law, that a person who either "knowingly" or "should reasonably know" must comply with that law directed toward them in that capacity. I would say bragging about and making recommendations to hire illegals goes beyond the pale of "reasonable".

Sometimes I think there are people in this country that almost deserve what they will get if the dims get back control - - )and if you DON"T vote for thePubs, - you have) and you vote for socialists and they will capitulate to the terrorists and put us under the UN.
You will get half your wish - there will be bloodshed in this country -

Uh because tancredo's basement theater was done with "illegal" labor. You don't see him wielding a sledge hammer to his basement theater because it was built with impure labor. Tancredo didn't brag about using illegal labor. Tancredo didn't recommend that illegal labor to others. Tancredo didn't give glowing public endorsements of that illegal labor. Tancredo acted appropriately when he was informed that the contractor he used used illegal labor without his knowledge. Your suggestion that he take a sledgehammer to the work is ridiculous. Given your vitriolic hatred of CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN Tom Tancredo, even if he committed public hari-kari because of this error, you would still be complaining.

More than likely and I make no apologies for it. If you don't like stick where the sun don't shine. It's my hard earned money and none of your damned business. So, it is "more than likely" that you have hired illegal aliens. And you make no apologies for it. Got it. Carry on.

How did you feel about his breaking his word to term limit himself? It appears that Tancredo does walk his own talk.

Unlike you I don't stick my nose into other peoples right to do with their own property as the will. You on the other hand will give a pass to those that talk they way you want them to talk.

How did all of that work out for ya? You really are a little man. OK. You admit to hiring illegal aliens to save a few bucks - a felony - but I'm a little man for reporting criminal activity to law enforcement. Interesting.
