Gingrich: GOP can stop House loss By David M. Brown TRIBUNE-REVIEW
"Will they win? I think that's still up to the Republicans," Gingrich said Tuesday in a meeting with reporters and editors of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Republicama...you got a wheel in a ditch... and a wheel on the track!!!
They can start by dusting off the "Contract With America" that worked pretty damn well in 1994. Instead we have uncontrolled spending, Amnesty for illegals and other items that go against the grain of Conservative ideals [meaning common sense] that Newt came up with 12 years ago.
Newt's the man responsible for them being where they are. They should listen to him.
Ah yes, the morale compass of the GOP.
I don't think the actual contract would work a second time. But even if the Republicans came out with a bunch of genuinely conservative initiatives just in time for the election, it would doubtless make us happy, but would you trust them to implement their promises in the light of the Republican's recent tap dancing to the left.
Their real problem is that after six years of taking us for suckers, they have few options to convincingly persuade us that whatever conservative policies they advocate are anything more than election-time fodder, to be forgotten the minute the voting is over.

But that would be a reminder that they supported term limits of 12 years in both houses, which would be ending now for the Freshman class of 1994.
Go Newt
Let's see...
Term Limits was in that contract list, now wasn't it?
Gingrich: GOP can stop House loss
so the pubbies are now playing "not to lose"
Classic, pathetic, but classic.
Newt Bump!

There were more Conservatives 12 years ago. Once some of them realized that getting reelected meant compromising ideals in exchange for cash, it all changed.
The only way to change it is to get rid of the RINOS in the primaries running on a Conservative strategy. It will have to compete with a moderate(todays liberal) strategy. We will also have to redefine the playing field.
Conservative = Conservative
Republican = Democrat
Democrat = Liberal
Liberal = Marxist
Until this is brought out to the American electorate, no one iwll know the truth.

I was talking about the "idea" of another contract, and not the one that we came up 12 years ago. Are we out of good ideas as a Party?
I'm getting a little tired of Bush being blamed for all of this.
"Amnesty" is not what he proposed...that was Reagan's. Now Bush has to clean up that mess which has been untouched til now. How convenient for democrats that this issue now divides the republican party when it's been a poeblem for YEARS.
"Uncontrolled spending" Bush may sign the thing into law but it's the congress who writes it up. If he vetoed everything you all complain about him not, he would have not passed much of anything he wanted into law and you'd be complaining about not getting anything done.
Once again the republican party is destroying itself.
I remain loyal to this president but after this election I've had it. You all get what you deserve.
The problem is unlike 94 when Dems had control, the Repubs have had control since 94, and promising to do things now that they have turned their backs on repeatedly for 12 years rings shallow.
I keep seeing the President being trashed over any and every excuse, but where has the GOP Congress been? The GOP leadership in both the House and Senate have been AWOL most of the time, still behaving like they were the minority party.
Newt 08???????
Hmmmm.... Condi doesn't want it... Cheney doesn't want it....
I wonder...
