Wow I wish I was as cool as you are...

Go ahead and keep thinking that gay-bashing is ok or acceptable because they were "showing it", but that just proves more about you than me...

and there was no surrender, because you haven't brought any logical to the table.

Like a certain 18 year old girl drinking and taking drugs with strangers in a bar in Aruba...

Be careful or someone might accuse you of justifying whatever might have happened to her!

a near-fatal gay bashing

Now why phrase it this way. It was a near fatal attack. This is not clear writing, this is agenda pushing.

Natalie Holloway was killed for being heterosexual. Crimes are crimes. The CBS News employee part is what got my attention as well. Gosh, he is quickly moving up the CBS ranks and just 'happens' to be a gay lib. Shocking. Look for him to get a Movie Of The Week out of this on CBS now. Maybe HBO will do a new documentary on him.

My statement was "...am I approving of any violence that might be committed against him or alerting him to certain unpleasant realities?"

Clearly, there is nothing in that statement that suggests that a physical assault was justified in any way.

And I'm sorry that such simple logic is so difficult for you to grasp.

If I tell a child not to play in traffic, am I justifying any injury that might occur if they don't listen?

By your "logic," I am.

By any sane logic, I am not.

it is important to know that there are people out there who will react in that manner and that one should not do things to provoke them.

I understand that no one on this thread is defending the beating (at least I hope). Still, because these thugs have such an extremely low threshold for what constitutes "provocation," maybe it is they - and not the gay tourists - who shouldn't be out in public.

...something lame in how you are trying to find a way to justify it.

How could you state that I attempt to justify mayhem?

I have said (and I again say) that when homosexuals go abroad they need to control themselves.

I would never condone braining someone because they are same-sex people fondling and kissing in a heterosexual bar, but they should have known better than to antagonize hoodlums who hate homosexuals.

a near fatal attack doesn't draw as much controversy

It's not just Rastas, the whole Caribbean doesn't play that homo crap. And to the rest of you who feel sorry for the guy, what assault does he and the rest of his cohorts do to the country, especially our children?

Natalie Holloway was killed for being heterosexual.

More likely she was killed for being in a dangerous situation, in much the same way as Matthew Shepherd was killed. Advising people to avoid such situation does not imply approving of any negative outcomes in they ignore the advice.

Now that you've said it, I'm ok.

But putting out statements like this:

"American homosexuals need to understand that their perverted public behavior does anger some heterosexuals."

REALLY make it seem like you are justifying what they did by using the word "perverted" to describe it. There are NO positive connotations of the word perverted, therefore, there are NO positive connotations of what you said unless you clarify it, which you just did.

Violent people belong in prison, there's no doubt about that. There is also no doubt about the fact that not all of them are.

I don't see anyone trying to justify the attack. What I see is people reacting to this statement from the article.

For the first few days after the attack, St. Maarten police did little to investigate, according to the victims. But after CBS and ABC News ran TV reports, the case moved ahead.

That should give EVERY American pause when out of the country and make them more aware of their behaviour and their surroundings.

No one suggested that you should, but it is important to know that there are people out there who will react in that manner and that one should not do things to provoke them.

I understand what you're saying, but the same argument has been used on a macro scale to "explain" 9/11. The libs love to tell us how our culture provoked the Jihadists, and that we had it coming.
