Armed burglars robbed four students at their door room in Stony Brook University Monday night, police officials said.
The robbery happened at 8:30 p.m. on the second floor of an undisclosed building in the Kelly Quad at the university, Suffolk and Stony Brook University police said. Two to three masked men -- covering their faces with bandanas -- stormed the room and announced a robbery, they said.

A former scout of mine returned to his off campus room to find a black man there. He asked why and was told I'm robbing you.
Of what?
Well so far i haven't found anything.... how much money do you have on you?
About $2.
Damn....... well give me your watch and I'll get out of here. I'd really be a bad robber if I didn't get something.
Absolutely true story.
If I heard correctly from Channel12 -- one student, who didn't want to be identified, claimed to have been pistol-whipped.
Other students, no doubt.
Other students, no doubt.
Safe for criminals that is...
"College students are broke"
I used to think so too till I spent a year in Grad School at Univ.of Georgia and saw many of the kids with new cars, fancy clothes and seemingly unlimited expense accounts for social activities and travel.
Was I jealous?Well, maybe a little but the conspicuous consumption was a big shock to me.
My sister went to college in Farmindale NY years ago. Some vertically challenged miscreant attemied a "push in" ronbbery. My kid sister is 5'10' and athletic. She shoved him aside and whacked him upside the head with a flower pot. Her only mistake was grabbing for another flowerpot, which gave the goblin a chance to drag his sorry posterior out of the dorm..
My daughters who have attended state schools (in-state and out-of-state) don't mind unisex bathrooms.
On the other hand, I fondly remember the days of single-sex dorms with 11PM curfews during the week.
Did they have the ag programs back then? When our kids were little we used to visit the animals there.
My sister attended this same SUNY campus for 3 semesters, until the December 1977. She said she felt unsafe there, there were robberies, assaults, drugs galore, kids pulling fire alarms at all hours, etc.
She left Stonybrook and on the day after New Year's 1978 flew to Tallahassee to attend FSU. Less than 2 weeks later Ted Bundy broke into the Chi Omega sorority house and killed two coeds before murdering another girl a few blocks away.
Needless to say my mom was beside herself. Talk about out of the frying pan into the fire!
My gosh!! I'm glad your sister was not harmed.
Living in one now.
That's the problem with generalizations; they are often wrong. I am in college right now, and mommy and daddy aren't paying for anything. A lot of students are in the same situation - they are paying for it themselves, and are essentially broke. You go from semester to semester, hoping that the money will last.
True. That was one of the hardest things that I had to do to go to college - lock up my guns at a friend's house on the other side of the state. I hate not having a gun handy. I do, however, keep my ice-axe sharp. Best that I can do.
They definately did..
