U.S. tipping Mexico to Minuteman patrols (telling the Mexican government)
Daily Bulletin ^ | 5/9/2006 | Sara A Carter

Posted on 05/09/2006 6:21:25 AM PDT by IrishMike

While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.

"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.

"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."

Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.

"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.

"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

I smell State Department orders given to Border Patrol via Fox Buddy Bush. Keep it up Bush. When the people turn on the GOP in November you can claim all the credit due to ya for making it all possible.

I am real close to losing my faith in Bush and his administration. If I were to be polled, I'd be one of those conservatives that has lost faith in the President.

This is absolutely ridiculous. What laws have the Minutemen broke to deserve to be dragged threw the mud like this? It's disgusting!!!!!

If you vote for the same, you'll get more of the same.

So far, the GOP aren't proposing any significant changes.

The choice is the wacko left progressive wing of the Democrat Party or the rino wacko progressive wing of the Republican party.

There is no viable 3rd choice, unless enough people show their disgust and go elsewhere.

If you vote for the same, you'll get more of the same.

Well, the mods just took the other thread out of "Breaking News".

Don't want too many people seeing how fed up many of us are with this Administration. They'll probably move this one to chat next.

Charging the Mexican government $10,000 for each one illegal alien we return to them would solve this issue once and for all.

12 million illegals X $10,000 each would earn the US Government 120 Billion dollars.... beats the heck out of raising taxes on American citizens!

The Minutemen were infiltrated by "skinheads" who are dangerous. This destroyed their image. The Minutemen need a way to "vet" their volunteers.

I'm calling a hug Bravo Sierra on this. The Minutemen do vet their people and any indication of what you indicate gets anyone applying or in the organization the immediate boot.

Hopefully, they will.

" A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed"

If there was any doubt to "our" gov'ts position this clarifys it.

Absolutely traitorous,no other way to describe it.

The other thread was pulled.

There are several issues where BUsh has done fine and contiunues to do fine with my support. I agree with and support the actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. We are winning there and our enemies are being drawn to fly traps where they can be fought and eliminated there while we help the people there create much more stable and friendly nations towards us.

In general (outside of the major AWB issue) I support his stand on the 2nd Amendment.

In general I suupport his stance on abortion.

The tax cuts have been critical to the economy and nbeed to be made permanent.

His ideas for social security need to be pursued.

However, his actions as regards the border, the presecription drug program, big "compassionate" government spending, campaign finance reform and (as I said earlier) the Assault Weapon Ban are reprehensible and not worthy of support.

...and, having said that, a Gore or a Kerry would have been infintely worse on all counts.

As to the polls...that's all they are. The only important poll and approval raiting was taken in November 2004. There's another mid term poll coming up, and then the big one in November 2008.

George Bush -- regardless of what you think about his leadership of the War on Terror -- is Jimmy Carter redux.

No kidding. Admittedly, this one was posted first, but I suspected they'd pull that one because it was in Breaking News. Which is where this belongs, frankly. It's outrageous.

I'm sure the usual suspects will be along to make excuses.

I'm not even one that follows this stuff all that carefully, and think we need more legal immigration. But, this is absolutely egregious, and we need to see some immediate action on this, as well as apologies.
