While Minuteman civilian patrols are keeping an eye out for illegal border crossers, the U.S. Border Patrol is keeping an eye out for Minutemen -- and telling the Mexican government where they are. According to three documents on the Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Web site, the U.S. Border Patrol is to notify the Mexican government as to the location of Minutemen and other civilian border patrol groups when they participate in apprehending illegal immigrants -- and if and when violence is used against border crossers.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesman confirmed the notification process, describing it as a standard procedure meant to reassure the Mexican government that migrants' rights are being observed.
"It's not a secret where the Minuteman volunteers are going to be," Mario Martinez said Monday.
"This ... simply makes two basic statements -- that we will not allow any lawlessness of any type, and that if an alien is encountered by a Minuteman or arrested by the Minuteman, then we will allow that government to interview the person."
Minuteman members were not so sanguine about the arrangement, however, saying that reporting their location to Mexican officials nullifies their effectiveness along the border and could endanger their lives.
"Now we know why it seemed like Mexican officials knew where we were all the time," said Chris Simcox, founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. "It's unbelievable that our own government agency is sending intelligence to another country. They are sending intelligence to a nation where corruption runs rampant, and that could be getting into the hands of criminal cartels.
"They just basically endangered the lives of American people."

The only excuse, imho, which she has to have written this article now, seeing as how it's dated 2005, is to *harm*; this article is on the heels of the May 1st boycott, May 5th, and while the MM are en route to the White House.
I've finished the first report, a "resolution", a "statement", a recap of a particular stop. Am currently working on the report 3 (skipped over #2 for now). Let's say, I'm way less than thrilled with what Mexico is demanding from our government over private citizens in the U.S. as concerns their citizens here illegally.
That's why I linked it.
100,000 per year interior deportations.
Omigod! Bring in the violins...sinkspur, sing us the first chorus of "Mexican border crashers are just like Vietnamese boat people" we'll pick up the refrain from there.
Does anybody know the melody to "It Takes A Village?" (barfhurlbuickchuckgag)
And stop pussy-footing with the Mexican Govt.'s demands.
Of course they do.... with false documents (i.e. social security, drivers license, etc). AWB
You have no idea what you are saying. Not that it matters in these stupid "debates", there are members amongst the MM who have had amble "attention" in their lives. Significant attention.
I hadn't heard that - thanks for the info.
We are lucky because Kyl is great (IMHO) and our local representative is a good man and so far holding strong, JD came out really strong against the current situation, so I assume he joins Tancredo in the doghouse.
What I'm concerned about is the businessman running against Kyl has horrible ads running that are outright lies and you know how little everyone really pays attention, Kyl is down to something like 11 points edge and our Governor is running 30 points ahead -- I had really hoped to see Goldwater give her a better run than this --
Why is that? I made no asinine assertions such as "the media created all the recent interest in illegals" to paraphrase. Accurately.
I'd be posting thread after thread with long rants about illegal aliens, trying to make other FR posters feel like they're not real true conservatives and are un-American if they didn't agree with me.
Sort of like you do.
There sure are among some of the "leaders". Most of them would rather not bring it up though.
O'reilly said calls had not been returned to his people.
Stay tuned, perhaps they'll mention the 'deadliest tide'. Immigration (illegal), that is.
I didn't say the media created all the interest in illegals. I said I didn't focus on it until the media started talking about it 24/7. You should really see someone about that reading comprehension problem you're having. It must hold you back.
It mirrors some of the xenophobia in the latest hysteria.
Do yuo always react so emotionally to a headline, when in fact, the story has been denied?
Sure, whatever.
I didn't mean to imply I thought you were voting third party; the second part of that post was really meant for lurkers. And I've always adored JD; he's sure not in my doghouse :-)
