I'm a conservative American and will continue to vote REPUBLICAN because I know there is NO OTHER PARTY that will defend what is left of this republic and I DON'T TRUST the TRAITORS who claim otherwise.

May I suggest that all you happy campers get up from your computers, walk outside your homes, and look at what you see.
This is our country, this is The United States of America, and it will go on no matter who is President, what the s##t storm de jour is, no matter what our enemies try to do to destroy us.

This is my country right or wrong, and I support my President, the Commander in Chief, the leader of the free world. This is the only thing that matters now as President Bush's Axis of Evil steps out of the shadows, and the slouching dogs that only used to nip at our heels now bare their fangs.

Thank you all for helping, and for giving our lovely Kos Kids and DUers grist for their mill, and possibly, a terrorist in Michigan or Kabul a little encouragement.

Your individual causes or concerns or biases are all that weighs on President Bushes shoulders. From 9/11 right up to today, please think back at all our President has had to deal with, far more than any man should of ever had to bear.

I ask you to think of all the challenges, the attacks, the enemies, foreign and domestic, and say a prayer for a human being who is charge of the most extraordinary undertaking in the history of mankind. Say a prayer and then STFU.

Oh, so it's questions time?

Quick, name the last President who went 6 years without vetoing even crappy laws, like McCain-Feingold?

Name the last GOP President who let the deficit run up so high?

Bush has been a good president. His judicial picks have been very good. He had been tough on the war on terror, but he is getting gun shy versus Iran. His tax cuts have helped. The one area I really fault him and the GOP on is that they have not made any effort to reign in spending. In that area the GOP congress and the President have been a complete failure.

Keep pointing that finger. You and the sinking fool!

Oh, this ol' river keeps on rollin', though,
No matter what gets in the way and which way the wind does blow,
And as long as it does I'll just sit here
And watch the river flow.

Don't bother.

You're making too much sense for many people here, who would rather have a Donkeycrat Congress and President because their Messiah-like "gold-standard perfect lower-case conservative" is unlikely to become a reality anytime soon.

Let them.

They're engaged in a weenie-measuring match to see who's more "conservative" than the other, even if it means counting how many times blasting Presiden Bush for being a "soft liberal" and how many times you can shout "Mexico is invading. Deport them all!!!"

They're like that.

They'll prove to be their own undoing.

Meanwhile, can you spell "Madam Speaker Pelosi"???

Thanks for your post, couldn't agree more. "If" the Dems take one of the houses in November, I'll have the satisfaction of knowing I didn't make it easier for them by not voting or voting for a third party candidate.

Every incumbent must be voted out of office. Every one of them. Man. Woman. Boy. Girl. Democrat. Republican. Independent. Every incumbent must be voted out of office. America must begin the painful process of returning its government to the people. Every incumbent must go. Every incumbent in every election for the forseeable future.

The Republican Party is doomed to go the way of the Federalists and Whigs, no amount of lobbyist dollars and gerrymandering will change that. There is one way though, to reverse this: conservatives must have a serious debate about the party's post-Bush future.
Do we go back to our conservative roots and become once again the party of Taft, Goldwater and Reagan or do we continue on as the party of Rockefeller, Nixon and Bush?
I pick the former.

The Democrats are already picturing themselves back in control. They can taste it.

But say the Republicans stunningly pick up seats in November. Then say George Allen wins the presidency in '08.

The blow to the Democrats will be so massive and disheartening that there is a good chance the party will implode into irrelevance.

In other words, we could be two and a half years from ending the Democrat threat to our nation.

Seems to me that's worth a thought or two.

Yeah, well just be upset. I'll vote Republican, like I have a choice? But they'll not be gettin' a dime in the letters I already send. I prefer a slow death to a quick one.

It really doesn't matter, pal. This is not Israel or Italy where a political party can make a difference. Here a political party (one of the two, or more like one and a half) must appeal to the most voters, and that is its only program. Everything else, an illusion, and a kind of exercise in fandom. It's the fans of Arthur Fiedler versus the fans of Lawrence Welk, fans of Coke versus the fans of Pepsi. The POTUS, whoever he is, if he's from "your" party, is worshipped in a way that even Catholics don't worship the pontiff. (See the daily photo licking threads on this very forum.)

Despite the common hallucination here, Toon didn't bring us Communism or even Socialism during his reighn of terror, and W is not bringing a Libertarian paradise either.

Good post. I concur. People take so much for granted. I think some people have become adjusted to "whining".

George W Bush will be vindicated by history. And I will support him, despite some flaws, because he is by far the Best the GOP has right now.

Well said but it's lost on the hotheads and dem agitators at this site. Just don't worry or waste time with these idiots. There are enough rational conservatives who get it and understand politics to pull together and ensure that Pelosi and Hillary aren't allowed to get in.

I agree pretty much with what you said.

This is definitely the WRONG time to be trying to punish republicans and/or prove a point. Maybe 2008, depending on what's happening with the WOT.
But not now while we're in the middle of a war and there's such uncertainty with regards to Iran.
