I'm more upset with Conservatives than I am with George W. Bush

Posted on 05/08/2006 7:04:26 PM PDT by mwfsu84

If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?

If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?

If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?

Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.

And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.

So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.

If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?

George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.

If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

"They have a series of leftist talking points"

Such as? Back up your assertion or back down.

You're not going to gain anything by labelling everybody who disagrees with you "troll."

Is your definition of calling for democrat takeover one who says they are not excited enough to go vote in November because the republican party abandoned them?

No I am saying that 300+ people are venal enough to let the democrats take power for sheer spite.

First of all, thanks for making an effort to bring this discussion back on to a reasonable track. As to your points, the defection in '92 may have given us Clinton, but it also resulted in the spectacular takeover of Congress by the Republicans for the first time in a generation. This is what happens when ideas are given more attention than who wins a particular election.

Secondly, I really don't think that if the Democrats win in '06 (a questionable outcome to begin with), they'll necessarily continue in power much beyond that, especially if it's made clear that the only reason they won is that the conservative vote was divided. The effect that'll have is a redoubled effort in '08 to make sure we have a good solid nominee who'll unite the base and bring fresh ideas to the country. Conservatives who campaign unapologetically as conservatives (without doing everything possible to antagonize people the way Goldwater did) historically do quite well in national elections.

Hit a nerve did I?.

Oh yeah, you did. You hit the same nerve that the likes of Daily Kos and Code Pink and Democratic Underground and Bill Maher and Paul Krugman hit when they make snap judgments based on absolutely nothing.

Also, like I thought, you are chickening out. You can't explain why someone who was concerned about the security an Emirate would provide is by definition "xenophobic." You're just doing the same thing the left does; spitting slurs and lies on your opponents rather than engaging in logical, forthright debate.

Thanks for letting your mask slip. Now I know who -- and what -- you are.

That attitude exemplifies exactly what is wrong with the Republican Party today; a lack of principles worth stating one's honor on.

There is currently very little honor within the Republican Party. They talk up the military but short change their veterans and allow the newsies and Lefties to savage those on active duty with Abu Garibs and charges of being too aggressive.

Modern Republicans continue to chant the old fiscal responsibility and lower taxes hymn, but are bankrupting the country. There record is worse than when the democrats held the House, Sentate, White House and Supreme Court. The Cato Institute's recent study backs that up.
What an embarrassment!

I think the Queer Eye For The Straight Guy folks need to start teaching our metrosexual leadership in Washington how to be men and stand up for Republican principles, instead wussing out every time some Democrat or Lefty threatens to call them bad names.

When the Republican Party finds its backbone again is when I will support them.

***Our borders are open and I guarantee you that the terrorists who come to the US to do the next attack will NOT be coming to the US through our airports.***

Lots o'Reasons, but mostly because it's a last gasp for the Liberal Wing.......

If They DO NOT win this November, Hillary moves to boot the Deaniac Libs, Gays, Envirowhacko's, and Socialist/Communists from the DNC, so she can take control for the 2008 run.....

You have to pick your battles in a war, and sometimes you have to lose a few, to win the campaign....

You guys want to squelch every single bit of dissent.

Seriously, friend, you cannot believe that; have you looked at FR lately? It's none stop GOP and Bush bashing.

As if that's going to shore up support.

The same can be said for those telling the rest of us we're not conservative enough or principled enough.

Didn't know I was trashing anyone. When I took physics in college, I rarely understood my physics instructor; but I never trashed him. I was just not bright enough to pass the course.

Hey, boy. If you lie.........which you did.........I call you on it.

Be a man, and accept the consequences of your own behavior.

That's what us conservatives do, you know?

(And I have never 'shrieked' in my life. But you are very good at feeling sorry for yourself, and spouting hyperbolic nonsense based on emotional tripe..........and YOU haven't gotten a single bit better).

Now, I'm leaving, so no more lies like the last post, when I'm not here to defend myself against them, OK?

"Hey, boy. If you lie.........which you did.........I call you on it."

OK, now we're getting the "fan" back ... accusation of lying #1.

What is it that I am lying about? That you supported Harriet Miers?

If the DNC gets control of this government again, they are going to DISMANTLE the ELECTORAL COLLEGE and you won't get a CHANCE to rectify your ignorant stance

Republicans tend to vote on issues and when you make statements like this you make it look like the issues the GOP has are not worth getting in the car and driving to the polls so you instead have to open up the democrat "ANYBODYBUT(add a name)" tactic. It did NOT work for them and it will NOT work for us.

Independents (those who are neither democrat or republican) also vote for republicans because of issues. They do NOT hate the democrats as much as a republican would therefore they need issues NOT political scare tactics to make them decide to vote one way or the other.

If Pelosi & Co. say "Vote for democrats and we will...whatever" and then they hear from republicans "Vote for us so the democrats will not win"...just who do you think will get the swing vote?

Because the idiots didn't even know why they were opposing the deal. There was no take-over of ports. That didn't matter to you and your xenophobes. There was just a Dubai holding company investing in port operations that would be using the same personnel...read unions... that had always been there. We are now in a position of trying to find an American company willing to take it over and after 3 months NOTHING has been done because no American country wants it.

Worked up, demoralized, spun into an infantile tizzy, whatever it takes.

The middle option is what the MSM was aiming for, and it's quite different from the first in terms of its outcome. I agree that they're trying to get conservatives to stay home. I disagree that they're tying to get them to vote third-party. They're instead trying to get them to think of themselves as isolated and out of touch, and that would make them less likely to vote third-party.

There's a reason why during the '04 elections, a number of MSM sites had online polls up listing Bush and Kerry as options for respondents to choose from, and occasionally Nader, but never, ever, Badnarik or Peroutka.
