I'm more upset with Conservatives than I am with George W. Bush

Posted on 05/08/2006 7:04:26 PM PDT by mwfsu84

If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?

If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?

If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?

Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.

And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.

So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.

If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?

George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.

If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

Is your definition of "trolls" one who does not agree 100% with Bush?

Strawman. When 300+ members call for a democrat takeover in 2006 the nicest terminology is "troll" the correct phrase would be traitors. Bush is not even a consideration in electoral politics. He is not going to run again so it makes no difference how the unappeasables feel about him.

However, I do nothing to move forward my ideas or principles by enabling my enemies - and I do believe more and more that they are the enemy - to take power.

I just had to see that excellent response in BIG FONT!

Well stated.

Socialist? Did you stop taking your medication again? The nice people in the white coats can help you with that.

"You are on the side of the left, and that makes you MY enemy as well."

You've been flying into a tizzy for close to a year, whenever anyone has had the temerity to question the wisdom of decisions made by President George W. Bush. You are a die-hard fan, as your screen name demonstrates. I became acquainted with you because I questioned his choice of Harriet Miers. You called me a liar, questioned my honor and integrity, and generally shrieked hosannas for Harriet until she withdrew. So, I'd say your loyalties are not to conservative principles or even conservatives, and not even to the Republican Party. You're loyal to one man, and he's president. It's admirable in a way. But, if you're going to develop a persecution complex and label the large number of people who aren't absolutely, 100% on board with everything our president says or does as "enemies," you're going to end up undermining support far more effectively than any DUmmie could ever dream.

Just as long as the fence people understood, clearly, that there would be an expansion of the guest worker program on the table next year, as well as some path to citizenship for some or most of those already here.

Who needs an expansion? Why?

Maybe as a booster of the "guest worker program" that so many Reps say we "neeeeeed!" You can explain why. They never get around to that part.

we need to rid this forum of trolls who signed on to disrupt and demoralize.

You're absolutely right onyx.

We can start right here. The best way to demoralize these trolls is to totally ignore them...they want attention and want to feel important. When they see our frustration...they claim victory.

I suggest we start with the most active one over the last 100 posts or so...check out This Post and follow it back to the original post

I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

Spread that fear.

Fear will work one of two ways:

Conservatives will chicken out, stay on the reservation, sell out the country, and vote to keep the republicans in office...

or

The republicans will chicken out, realize that they won't be voted back into office if they continue on their socialist path, and revert to conservatism.

I personally think that neither side will chicken out, and we will all have to perfect out "Heil Hillary" chant.

a temporary setback can sometimes be the price for what it takes to avert a major disaster down the road.

Gak! That tactic was already tried, and all we got for it was eight years of Bill Clinton and being stuck with the mess that was created.

And you want it done all over again?

Besides, given the history of the measures that the Dems have taken to get and maintain power, my fear is that, far from averting a disaster down the road, your "temporary" setback will usher in an even greater one.

It literally (I think) means person of importance.

As used by Agnew, I think he was being ironic and using it as persons of self-importance.

OK - I'll make you a deal. I have a LONG LIST of grievances with GW, but I'll settle for one, JUST ONE. If the Pubbies agree to build a wall on the Southern Border, than I'll come out and vote ...

Yes, I've made typos, "honey". I just enjoy pointing out imperfections to people who think they're superior enough to sit in judgment of people who don't agree with them 100%.

BTW, from your screen name and tagline, I assume you are NOT in agreement with those willing to turn control of Congress over to the Dems just to teach the Pubbies a lesson. I love W also.

Are Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham, Mike Gallagher and Sean Hannity trolls?

I hope the name calling of Hannity isn't limited to just "troll"..........I've got a couple more that I'd like to toss out there.

And tying it to amnesty as the President and most of Congress insist on doing is simply a poison pill to avoid having to do it

First of all, it is not amnesty in the Ronald Reagan sense, and to say so is to misrepresent the facts in an attempt to influence the perception of the plan as a giveaway...which if you read it you will find it is most certainly not.

Second, regarding the politics, since that is what our discussion was originally based on. Winning politicians, despite their sometimes ridiculous behavior know one thing really well—the nature of politics. In this argument, they have actually had the wherewithal to step back and realize that they are better off taking a short term hit on "amnesty/guest worker program" with their base, than having to face an angry electorate after forcibly removing 20 million people from the country and plunging it into an economic crisis.

Now, wait, before you lay all the "hidden" costs on me, I understand them, the politicians understand them and you understand them. But swing voters who are not tied into thing politically on one side or the other do NOT know them. And they don't care about them because overall, they are resigned to live with all the "activist political crackpots" and are happy to get whatever they can out of the "system."

My point here is simply that the numbers run the system and politicians of both parties go where the votes are to some extent. They weigh short term wins and losses as part of an overall strategy.

Because of that, the bottom line is that in this case, the numbers are still against what many on this site are advocating. Ninety percent of the public does not name immigration as the number one priority as some here have claimed—7% do. Like it or not, it is reality.

Fortunately for us, big ugly protests with lots of foreign flags by the other side favor our positions. But we must be careful to not stage our own big ugly protests and lose all the ground we have gained.

I agree with you on that.........and TRUST me, we are putting pressure on our two weakling Senators.

But what happened here in Ohio last Tuesday is a good gauge of what's to come in November. Republicans came out in good numbers and Dems did not. We will have victory in November, and continue to apply intense pressure to those already in power to support border security BIG time.

"...a temporary setback is the price you pay..." We are in another life or death fight for Civilization, and you suggest Our Country put on further shackles, as a remedy towards Victory over Our enemies. I truly hope, that you are simply unaware of current reality.
