Bush No Longer Seen as Effective Manager (Gallup has Bush @ 31%)
Gallup ^ | 5/8/06

Posted on 05/08/2006 11:34:10 AM PDT by Recovering_Democrat

Along with the lowest overall job approval rating of his presidency, the latest USA Today/Gallup poll gives President George W. Bush record low scores for his handling of a variety of national issues and perceived leadership abilities. Since January, Bush's ratings have fallen most sharply with respect to his handling of energy policy and Iraq.

Maybe you should explain all the rules about what is/is not OK to post on a thread so that we can ensure ideological purity of thought. I guess if I don't behave, you'll call the mods again.

I dunno how and why I left 9-11 off that list as well...but if you look at his presidency...it has been littered with so many things that just hit him out of the blue. You have to feel for the man on a personal level. He is constantly bashed day and night with no breaks.

Onyx,

Thank you for posting that picture of President Reagan. I do have to ask, though, what domestic accomplishments did Reagan get between March 1987 (cover of that magazine) and January 1989? I assume you post that picture to show he recovered, but in what sense did he do so?

I asked someone else this a few days ago and he never replied. I assume someone posting that cover has a good sense of the answer.

If Bush really wanted to throw the dems a curveball him and cheney would resign and put someone like rob portman in.

If bush were to resign a lot of the conservative bush hatred would be taken out of the baloon and a lot of the anti bush opposition would be taken out.

Bush doesn't deserve any of this. He has had to deal with ray nagin and blanco. He has to deal with dems filibustering any good bill. The dems are filibustering a bill going after sexual predators just so they won't allow bush to sign a good bill. He has to deal with the liberal media.

Bush and Cheney resigning would be caving in to the democrats. But who cares if conservatives are joining in on the bush hatred. Better bush resigning than being called a racist again because of nagin's ineptitude in katrina or being called a arab lover because of a business transaction between two companies with the dubai deal.

Bush resigning would stop the bush hatred. It is getting old and boring. Bush can't get anything done with the dem filibuster and gets blamed for idiots like nagin and blanco.

Better Bush resigning than having his name thrown in the mud for the next two years.

If bush and cheney were to resign dems whole campaign message would be thrown out the window. They would be lost. What would they do to attract people to the polls.

Frist should resign too. If Bush is going to get slaughtered by his base then it makes no sense for him to stay on. He makes unpopular decisions for the good of this country in the war and he is getting spit on by both sides.

No, I don't think he's a moron. But clearly he can't articulate himself well. He won his elections despite this. His success was dependent on momentum, a perception of invincibiliy, and circumstances. Reagan could be charming and speak his way back to the top when he was down. Bush doesn't have the same ability.

As I recall the 90% was "right" after 9/11...think about it?

Even a mass electorate with an 8th grade education will rally around the flag if the nation gets hit...but those who understand the facts and can read and understand the news (or propaganda) critically will stay the course. My point.

If you insist on making every thread a discussion of border control, you will find your posting privileges limited.

That's just the way it is. In case you are blind, there are plenty of active threads about the border.

This isn't a thread about the border, it's a thread about the new press secretary.

Now you can either put up a fight with me which you will lose or you can adjust your habits. It's your choice and I'm indifferent.

If Bush is pinning his hopes on those who can understand the news critically, he's not as intelligent a politician as I thought. Bad move.

The press has done their job. I've never, in my life, seen a hostile MSM press like we have now. I was away last week and caught 15 minutes, on one night, of the ABC Nightly News. If I did not follow the news as closely as I do, I'd say the same thing about Bush. In fact, if I just got my news from that show, I'd think this Country is about to come to an end...and I'm really not exaggerating too much.

"The borders are not red hot issue throughout the electorate as they are on FR."

I think you're dead wrong. I have rarely seen an issue that cuts across all political and socio-economic spectra like the issue of illegal aliens and the open borders. On what other issue can you get 70% to 80% of Americans agreeing? Even legal Mexican immigrants agree the border should be secured.

Any politician who does not see the invasion of illegal aliens as a "red hot issue" not only can't read polls, but is likely to be surprised come election day.

The hateful MSM declared him down and out after Iran Contra. They were wrong, just like they're wrong about President Bush.

This poll, taken May 5-7, has President Bush's approval rating at 31 percent, with 65 percent disapproval. That's down from 34 percent in late April, 37 percent in mid March, 39 percent in February, and 43 percent for most of January.

Most are but some are DU style infiltrators pretending to be conservatives.

Barking moonbat tinfoil conspiracy bovine excrement. And you know it. You've got to come up with something better to deal with the MAJORITY of FReepers who answered in a recent poll that they're not likely to vote GOP in November. (No, there is no way that the White House and GOPicontrolled congress will act "immediately" to seal the borders, penalize employers who hire illegal aliens and deport all illegal aliens.) Instead of calling most FReepers "DU infiltrators pretending to be conservatives" you may want to find an alternate method to actually win them over, not insult them. By the way, check my sign up date. I've been here FAR longer than you have. Am I a DU infiltrator in your mind too?

Well...what is your definition of a good politician?

A Billy "run the country by polls and into the ground" Clinton or a W?

"He makes unpopular decisions for the good of this country in the war and he is getting spit on by both sides."

Please explain to me how not controlling the borders can be spun as being for the good of the country? We won't even bring up enforcing laws, just border control. How is not controlling our borders in a time of war good for the country?
