D.C. Chapter Needs Your Help this Mother's Day Weekend Countering Code Pink & Cindy Sheehan
Sunday, May 7, 2006 | Kristinn

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic needs your help this coming weekend. Code Pink and Cindy Sheehan will be holding a 24-hour protest in front of the White House starting Saturday, May 13th. We are looking to have a near constant presence there to balance out their treaonous propaganda.

We are also looking for more people to join us at Walter Reed this (and every) Friday night.

And....we need help counter-protesting an enemy propaganda display on the National Mall starting this Thursday through Saturday morning.

I know many of the readers and participants on Free Republic don't think it's worth countering the anti-American left. And I know others are getting weary after many years of activism. However, the one thing I know above all else is that the anti-American left is working tirelessly to aid their terrorist allies by waging a political on the home front in order to bring about a repeat of Vietnam. They are counting on you to stay home, or to be worn down by constantly countering them.

I'm tired, but I'm reminded of our soldiers who are volunteering for third and fourth tours in Iraq. I'm reminded every Friday night of the courage and dedication of our wounded at Walter Reed, most of whom want nothing more than to heal so they can return to their units in harm's way.

I'm also reminded of family members in uniform. One is serving in Afghanistan taking fire from Code Pink's allies on the Pak border.

There are thousands of Freepers and lurkers in the D.C. metropolitan area--but you rarely turn out. I'm asking you to turn out this weekend and join the D.C. Chapter in our battle on the home front. Yes, I know it's Mother's Day weekend. But our soldiers and their families are sacrificing everything, you can sacrifice some time for them, can't you?

If you'd like to see what the enemy has planned, click here to see Code Pink's plans and here.

Click here for the details on the enemy propaganda event on the Mall beginning Thursday. They will be holding a phoney-baloney candle light vigil Thursday night at 8:15 at 14th St. on the Mall.

The D.C. Chapter will be there Thursday night at 7:45 to counter. We'll also be at Walter Reed Friday night from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Lafayette Park from 2 p.m. Saturday through Sunday at 3 p.m.

Check back on this thread for updates.

Please pass this along to your families and friends in the area. Service family members are especially welcome to stand with us.

Lurkers can contact the D.C. Chapter though this link with questions or to confirm attendance.

LOL. Good One. Mother's Day has long been a time for Miltiary Moms to honor our fallen. I hope people will take action not to let left wing moms over take Mother's Day.

I'm truly sorry I can't get there. Literally 30 minutes before I saw this posted I made a commitment for the weekend that I haven't been able to squirm out of. Still doesn't look good so I guess this has to be only a BTTT :-(

I was going to come out to DC on the 21 but I have had to cancel my trip. Family issues have to come first.

Honor the Mothers of the Fallen. This Mother's Day (May 14th), many mothers will mark this occasion with a heavy heart. Thousands of mothers – including Cindy Sheehan – who have lost their children to the war in Iraq, will be descending on Washington, D.C. for a 24-hour vigil at the White House to honor the war dead and protest the war. What can you do? Send a Mother's Day rose to Washington, D.C., and let the mothers of fallen soliders know you stand with them – and against the war. Organic roses will be presented to the mothers and then tied to the fence outside the White House as a memorial to the dead and a call for peace. Click here to send your rose now!

Write a letter to Laura to ask her how she, as a mother, can continue to support a war that is leaving scores of American and Iraqi mothers bereft. Send your letters to laurabush@codepinkalert.org. We’ll deliver them en masse; we'll also take the most compelling letters and turn them into a book, “Letters to Laura.”

For more info about this project or to see sample letters click here.

Get your Mother a gift that fits your values and supports the work of CODEPINK. Check out the CODEPINK online store for ideas and special Mother's Day packages; for an even more special gift add your mom's name to the "My Mom Wants Peace" page.
