THE KENNEDY TRADITION (cut and run, and disgrace public office)
NY POST ^ | May 6, 2006 | EDITORIAL

Posted on 05/06/2006 5:06:53 AM PDT by Liz

After his second smash-up in three weeks - and a lot of unanswered questions about an alleged police cover-up - Rep. Patrick Kennedy yesterday declared that he's entering rehab to deal with an addiction to painkillers. This was hardly the congressman's first such incident. And he was in rehab just last Christmas.......the son of Sen. Ted Kennedy, said he doesn't remember anything about the incident, but that he's "deeply concerned." (At least no one died in the back seat.) The congressman crashed the car he was driving at 2:45 a.m. into a Capitol Hill traffic barrier after he narrowly averted broadsiding a cop cruiser.

He'd been speeding (in the wrong lane) and did not have his headlights on, cops said. A police report says his eyes were "red and watery," he was unsteady on his feet and his speech was "slightly slurred" - in short, it said, Kennedy was clearly driving under the influence. But under the influence of what?

Kennedy's latest fender-bender follows an April 15 accident with a car he apparently cut off. (Police did not publicize the incident, but a Boston paper found out 10 days later.) In recent years, he was accused of assaulting a Los Angeles airport guard after he tried to squeeze an oversize piece of luggage through a metal detector. Kennedy admitted he'd been rude and offered to settle the case for $25,000. Soon after, he was accused of causing $28,000 worth of damage to a rented yacht in Martha's Vineyard; his insurance company paid off the owner. At about the same time, the Coast Guard was called in to escort a female friend off the yacht following a heated argument.

FoxNews reports that P Kennedy was seen at 2 different bars that morning.

[Yet Kennedy can't remember anything, except that he was late for a vote and he took 2 different prescriptions.]

Looking for Patrick Kennedy to be appointed to chair a special congressional committee

If those dummies from Mass. want to keep electing a jerk and an embarrassment we can't do anything about it. The thing that really gets my gaul is that each time he is reelected, he gains seniority (power) on his given committees. That must be one of the reasons they keep voting for him.

Sentimental nothing.

My opinion of New England is that they are downright stupid for putting these fools into office.

I think it's survivors guilt. Massachusetts has never gotten over the assassination of JFK. They still cling to "Camelot". All of New England has changed greatly since I grew up there. It was basically conservative, at least that's how I perceived it. Now it's leftwing kook central.

Exactly. The MSM is already painting him as a victim. Compare the way the Rush situation was handled.

When the Capitol police caught Kennedy, did they give him the required tests? No, they took him home. I understand that the cop invoved has contacted his union because he was told to not follow usual procedures.

Think the MSM will cover this aspect? Not for a Kennedy.

"Drinking in bars, taking sleeping pills and driving around however I please? I'm a Kennedy. I don't remember anything, nor do I have to explain myself to you! Daddy says I'm the courageous one, so put that in your newspapers!"

Exactly! People get the government they deserve.
That doesn't say much for New England, does it?

I'm confused. Wasn't that a picture of the back injuries from an airplane crash? And when did son Patrick get the whiplash brace?

Maybe your point was they both appear in public in med gear to garner sympathy?

He had no choice. He had totalled his Crown Victoria three weeks prior.

The Kennedy's have the same mindset as Napoleon, who that he was not like other men and that the rules which apply to others did not apply to him.

You've nailed it. That very arrogance is the real "Kennedy curse." They fully believe they are superior to all of us ordinary mortals and unaccountable to ordinary law and morality, a belief on which they regularly act. Acting on that belief causes them periodically to get killed, seriously injured, or to kill or seriously injure others.

Capitol police officers stopped Kennedy after he hit the barricade and drove him home without administering field sobriety tests.

The next step for Kennedy, he said, is, “I’ve got to do total abstinence, period. From now on, obviously, I’m a very public face with addiction and alcoholism written on my head.”

Where the rest of us would have it written in a criminal record.

Is there a single malt scotch or an Irish whiskey that has a name that sounds like "ambien"? Maybe there is a small distillary called "Ambayan" or something like that?

They still cling to "Camelot".

They cling to the fraud that was then, and will always reamin a vile, stinking t**d sprayed with perfumed glitter.
