I find it hard to imagine that anyone who describes themselves as conservative would give Bush a positive rating at this point. I'm right there with him on the WOT but he has been a disaster at home.
Ditto.
The way I think is that an elected official has to earn my vote. I refuse to vote for some who is not conservative. Voting for a rino because they are not as liberal as the rats is like thank someone for hitting you with their fist instead of a bat. I will only vote for conservatives.
Find it a little easier. Though I agree with you that spending is way too high--Bush should be vetoing most or all spending bills these days--he does get a near-perfect 10 in picking judges. People forget that after the 2000 election the media and Democrats (and later Specter) indicated NO WAY would there be a pro-life justice squeaking through. But now you have two who have laid down professional opinions in the past, at least, that Roe has gotta go. And Roberts sleeps with a "Feminist for Life". Could be worse!
Ditto that.
Yeah, darn him for taking the fight to the enemy, advancing American strategic interests abroad, keeping us out of entangling alliances like Kyoto, the ABM treaty and the ICC, pushing and signing prolife legislation, selecting two seemingly prolife SC justices, and lowering income taxes. He couldn't even fix the decades old train wrecks of illegal immigration, social security, medicare and education so now they're his fault. Shame on him.

And of course the WOT is just a minor issue right? I mean it's not like the struggle to defend western civilization can be expected carry weight in deciding the votes of conservatives.
These "conservatives abandoning Bush" amaze me. Presumably, many of them are among those who ridiculed us Forbes supporters in the 2000 primary season. Would they now have us believe they were too dumb to know what "compassionate conservative" meant? And of course, the Democrats will fight the WOT much more effectively when they get power, right?
Increasingly I'm thinking the West is doomed to be under Sharia law within the next generation. And these "conservatives abandoning Bush" will be just as responsible for that as the most lunatic denizen of the fever swamp left. But that's okay, as long as Bush is punished for the "No Child Left Behind Act."

Does that mean you will be voting for a Democrat in the US House or US Senate? If it does, Dingy Harry and Crazy Nancy may be in charge of things in DC. Will you be as happy in November as you are in May?
Tax cuts and judicial appointments have been good. Of course spending is a sore point.
Roger that.
In addition to: illegal immigration, explosive government growth, huge deficits, you can add that Bush has managed to effectively destroy the Republican coalition.
Two numbers are significant:
The recent Free REpublic poll that showed that 60% of us would vote other than republican.
A recent poll on MSNBC that showed 67% of republicans are dissatisfied with Bush. That's not 67% of voters, but 67% of republicans.
These numbers are essentially consistent. Bush has lost the base.
Agreed. Bush seems to be stuck on WOT as a day never goes by without him using WOT as an alibi or excuse for all the other mishaps.
WOT is becoming old hat. Can anyone imagine the presidents after WW II continually spouting Cold War during every speech and using it as an excuse for their shortcomings? WOT has become as meaningless as War on Drugs or War on Poverty.
Come on Mr. President, there's more to life than WOT. You've milked 9/11 for all it's worth. It's time now to move on to other presidential tasks.
HOWEVER,, on election day, no one in their right mind DARES turn this country over to the Dems, no matter how bad the alternative with the GOP. I personally might "not vote" senator in protest to DeWhine, but only because I know there is no chance the Dems can win the Senate. If there were, even I would vote for DeWhine.
The media's wishful thinking on polls is setting the Dems up for a HUGE loss--maybe not in sheer numbers (I've been predicting a GOP senate GAIN of one to two seats, House, one to five)---but in terms of expectations.
My feelings exactly. Immigration, gas, the Dubai deal screw-up, the FEMA dysfunction in the gulf...
I am a life-long conservative. President Bush has done some good and some bad. Right now people are really angry with him about the immigration issue including me, and thus many of them have forgotten about the good.
Disaster at home? The tax cuts dropped my marginal tax rate by 2% giving me another $1500.00 in my pocket. Not to mention the child credits of $500.00 more per child. In all, I have $3000.00 more in my pocket because of the tax cuts.
Those cuts have created record high federal revenues and record high corporate income taxes.
His two selections to the Supreme Court have been excellent and will be there for 20 years or more.
That, for me, has been a HUGE success domestically. No President can get everything done but what he has accomplished has been hugely successful. Economy firing on all cylinders. That's all I need to make my way through this great country - a healthy free enterprise system. Bush has delivered that to me.
Asking for anything more is just whining.
