Lex Luthor, the semi-comic villain, will be played by Kevin Spacey
Wait until you see the trailer. Spacey really sucks the life out of it.
Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League were much more respectful of Luthor as a real bad guy. Batman Begins showed that you can do an origin story and get it right. Spacey aside, hopefully this won't suck as much as Superman III and IV did.
"When will Hollywood learn that Lex Luthor is NOT a stand-up comedian?"
I liked some of the lines in the first 2 Superman movies by Luthor. Like the "the greatest criminal mind surrounded by idiots". They had to have some kind of comedy. Superman was boring as hell as the rest of the charactors, excepting Lex Luthor. Though the fat guy was funny at times.
I won't see any Superman movies ever again.
Zod, I must admit was a good character.
Kneel before Zod!

(life imitates art?)
...and that one lost me when it showed Zod and his cohorts standing on the airless surface of the Moon, having a chat with each other... Um, script-writer guys? No air = no sound.
IIRC, that was also the one that inexplicably gave Superman Jedi mind-control abilities (when he waved his hand over Lois Lain's head and said "forget...") Why? Because they were too lazy to resolve the plot any other way...
Hey, somebody else gets it. I never read a single Superman comic in which Lex cracked a joke, that I can remember. He was EVIL, period.
Apparently, never....Look at what Joel Schumacher did with the Batman franchise. It looked like the only thing he knew about Batman was the TV series. Then, along came Batman Begins, and that at least gave us a chance to see Batman played straight.
Hollywood has NEVER gotten that it is possible to make a straight drama related to these superheroes. Case in point--the original Superman III (Richard Pryor), and the disatrous Superman IV, (which looked like it was shot as a kid's movie).
