So what does he blame the special treatment he got upon? Anyone else would have been subjected to a breathalizer and a night in jail.

In Arizona, impairment by alcohol, legal drug or illegal drug is still a DUI/DWI!

"At no time did I ask for any special consideration," he said. "I simply complied with what the officers asked me to do."
~~~~~~~~~
We all know that a Kennedy would never ASK for special consideration. Some of them sure do seem to EXPECT it, and there are various ways of indicating what you expect.
Kennedy's doctor's records should be subpoenaed.
Just like his daddy. Take about 18 hours and buy some time to invent a story and coverup. The Capitol Police Watch Commander who overruled taking a DWI test should be fired, and Congressman Kennedy should be removed from office. Corruption is not limited to Republicans after all.
Kennedy said he returned to his Capitol Hill home on Wednesday evening after a final series of votes in Congress and took "prescribed" amounts of Phenergan and Ambien, another prescribed drug that he occasionally takes to fall asleep. "Some time around 2:45 a.m., I drove the few blocks to the Capitol Complex believing I needed to vote," his second statement said. "Apparently, I was disoriented from the medication."
So Kennedy confesses to driving under the influence. There should be nothing standing in the way of a prosecutor filing DUI charges in this case.
The real reason Patches said he was late for a vote:
US Constitution - Article 1 - Section 6: The Senators and Representatives shall receive a compensation for their services, to be ascertained by law, and paid out of the treasury of the United States. They shall in all cases, except treason, felony and breach of the peace, be privileged from arrest during their attendance at the session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any speech or debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other place.
Patches has, no doubt, been told by a lawyer to always say that he is on his way to a vote or debate whenever he is stopped by the police. As long as he has not been found to be drunk, the police would not be allowed to detain him or even question him.
The Ambien story is just a way to explain the idiocy of claiming he is headed to a vote at 3:00 AM. Better to say he is disoriented by his medicine that to say he pulls this technicality out of his hat whenever he gets popped for drunk driving.
"Kennedy said he had taken sleep medication and a prescription anti-nausea drug that can cause drowsiness."
So Kennedy admits to DWI, (now called Driving While Impared) and needs to get booked on charges. I wonder if any up-and-coming prosecutor wants to charge him??
