The Lefts hatred of George W. Bush has no rival...
...or so it once seemed. But not so fast. There is a new breed of GWB hater: the Betrayed Conservative, a creature of surprisingly intense emotions for a member of the rational Right. The Betrayed Conservative is good news and bad news for the conservative movement. The good news is that there are vocal, passionate conservatives out there large numbers of them unwilling to accept anything less than sound conservative policy out of Washington. They are angry and active and have imposed some measure of discipline on that exasperating collection of spineless Republicans in the nations capital. At the drop of a bad Supreme Court nominee or immigration bill, the Betrayed Conservative explodes with the sort of colorful epithets that would make Al Franken blush. And make no mistake, Bush is their whipping boy, and they rarely stop at forty lashes.
The bad news is that Betrayed Conservatives are a political disaster. Betrayal involves a breach of confidence, but in the history of American conservative politics there has never been any confidence to breach, never been a reliable tradition of conservative policy in Washington implemented by principled public servants. Such animals have rarely walked the halls of the Capitol Building, and when they appear, they are hunted down by both the rabid Left and vacillating Right with the viciousness of ritual murder. Such creatures of principle Newt Gingrich for example threaten all pure politicians.

Well said!
You have the right to do anything you choose. LOL I know you're only just now reading my post #22, so keep on reading and I'm sure by the time you get to my last post, you'll understand my point of view better than you do now. Or, hopefully so.
AHHHH! Those pics, away Satan, BE GONE, EVIL ANGELS!!!
BTTT
I have a question and maybe you have the answer. I remember back when the Minutemen project first began, President Bush made some comment about not wanting any vigilantes. No one knew back then exactly how the Minutemen would conduct themselves. I myself didn't want vigilantes (taking the law into their own hands). The Minutemen/women have proven that they are not vigilantes, they are simply observing and reporting what they find. So my question is, has President Bush used that word since then? Has he continued using the term, "vigilante"?
Here, Here! I like that! Well said.
Please don't fall for the increased enforcement canard. That will go by the wayside after the fall elections.
Build the fence!
"but it is foolish to be a one-issue voter."
Heh. That statement reminds me of the wolves and pig, voting on what is for dinner.
Although there are undoubtedly some fraudulent "betrayed conservatives" out there, I would not lump them all into that category. I believe they are in fact angry and feel betrayed. However, many seem to think that the Freepers they like to call "Bushbots" are somehow not as conservative as themselves and that "Bushbots" possess a hidden glee over recent events with the Senate and GWB. No, I would not call those who would called themselves "betrayed conservatives" frauds. However, they could at the least be mature enough to keep silent when a proven "Bushbot" conservative says they are angry and frustrated as well that the GOP has missed some great opportunities.

---So my question is, has President Bush used that word since then? Has he continued using the term, "vigilante"?---
No fence, no credibility.
So we're all to vote according to your opinion of what is best for our country in the larger picture? I'm supposed to vote according to somebody elses idea of what is best?
You didn't answer my question.
Ah Yes LBJ...."Guns and Butter"...A firm and honorable piece peace in Veee-et Nammmmh!
Complete bullsh*t plain and simple. You clearly have no idea of what we are doing and what we have accomplished in both Iraq and Stan - We are at war with terrorists that live among the citizens of those Countries. And to suggest we have not been fighting a war Vs them is 100% BS, usually from chicken-sh*t arm-chair types who love to talk a tough game.
If there was really a war on terror, or drugs, the first thing we would do is shut down the borders...The most important thing is our national security...
More is happening on our borders then can be publicly talked about (as it should be). Think NSA Op that was outed (purposely so, mind you, to try and hurt this war effort).
Immigration problems and border security in terms of WMDs, dirty bombs, etc...are not one in the same. Any one who understands both of those issues and what goes into effectively securing them understands this point.
And George B knows this...That why he sent a ton of OUR border patrol agents to Iraq to guard THEIR borders...
Complete BS again - Those who serve honorably in both our NG and AR do so with full knowledge of their commitments. They are fulfilling their roles needed in Iraq and Stan (and they are not guarding borders there).
Problem is, you guys don't want a conservative President...You want the status quo...We will vote for a conservative...You guys need to help us get a conservative instead of bashing everyone who's not a liberal Republican...
Sorry bud. This same line of BS was spouted against Ronald Reagan in 86 (that he wasn't a true conservative, blah, blah, blah).
Fact is, people like you need to help get larger majorities in each State where we can vote out RHINOs...not simply whine and crime and try to hang on a cross of loser-ship by acting like their is honor in defeat (by simply running guys in States that won't win). You need to grow the base first (but that is the tough work...it is much easier to simply whine and cry and foolishly act like you are standing for principal by voting for losers).
When did I ever give the impression that I think you should all vote according to my opinion of what is best for our country in the larger picture? You obviously have missed my point about the "larger picture".
OK, I agree with that.
In the end! Goldwater wasn't Goldwater, He married a young liberal and got all mushied up! it was almost more than an old school conservative like me could stand.
Here's one that really frosts me. Starting in the next couple of weeks here in California they are going to start a voter registration campaign. Their stated goal is to get all the hispanics registered so that they can have enough of "their people" voting to change the make-up of Congress.
They thoroughly plan to register illegal aliens to vote.
