Pro-Illegal Alien Incumbents Swept Out of Office in Bellweather Election in Herndon, Virginia
Fairfax County, Va Board of Elections ^ | Tuesday, May 2, 2006 | Kristinn

Posted on 05/02/2006 6:45:49 PM PDT by kristinn

Voters in the town of Herndon, Virginia delivered a stunning rebuke today to elected officials who opened a taxpayer funded day labor center for illegal aliens in the town last year. Incumbent mayor Michael O'Reilly lost to Steven DeBenedittis while five of the six at-large town council seats went to candidates opposing the day labor center.

Town Council winners are Bill Tirrell, incumbent Dennis Husch, Connie Haines-Hutchison, Charlie Waddell and Dave Kirby.

Only one of three incumbents on the council who supported the day labor center won re-election, J. Harlan Reece. The other two who went down in defeat were Carol Bruce and Steven Mitchell. Day labor center supporter Jorge Rochac also lost.

With its proximity to Washington, D.C., Herndon has captured national attention as a focal point of the debate over border security and the millions of illegal aliens lving and working in communities all across the country.

The local election came one day after a nationwide protest and boycott effort in support of legalizing illegal aliens.

Turnout in the election was higher than in past years, at 26%. The margin of defeat for the incumbent mayor was 130 votes out of 2,596 votes cast.

The nearly clean sweep by candidates opposed to coddling illegal aliens with taxpayer funds should serve as a warning to incumbents everywhere.

I didn't vote. I will not vote for the party. I will vote for the candidate who most represents my views, GOP, 3rd party or Dem. I will not stay home.

I also tried to send to Mcain but there's no email address only a form to fill out requiring an AZ address.

I tried to do the same thing. McCain doesn't want to hear from anyone, and he certainly doesn't listen to Arizonans either. He's a lost cause, and I hope the GOP isn't stupid enough to nominate him in '08!

Herndon is in a Republican Congressional District, surrounded by a Republican magesterial district within the Fairfax County government. It's an independently governed town, pretty ethnically diverse, middle-class, bedroom community.... mostly mid-to-upper level government and management types.

Ethnic breakdown of the local high school (which is pretty indicative of the town overall) is: 11.7% Asian; 9.8% black; 17.8% Hispanic; 57.5% white. Average SAT's at the local high school are V-547; M-560.

Will this help? It's McCain's "contact" form.

Thanks, nic! McLame must have changed his form. The last time I tried to contact him, the other states weren't listed, and I had to use my relative's address in Tucson in order to fill out the form.

Maybe now that he has national ambitions, he decided to allow other opinions. I'll give him an earful!

You want to send a message to the RNC that they will hear loud and clear??? Then do the following:

Send them one of these instead of a donation, using the RNC's own postage paid return envelopes!!!

Send one along to a politically like-minded relative or friend who opposes Amnesty, but doesn’t visit Free Republic!!!

Artwork originally created by FREEPER Prime Choice, of sacredcowburgers.com. Below is the link to the original:

The RNC will miss your money more than they will miss your vote!!! If you do not have access to a printer, then write “Secure Our Borders, Stop Catering to Illegals, Then We Will Send American Dollars” or something similar on your donation slip and return it to the RNC in their postage paid envelopes will work as well as sending the “peso”!!!

If you do want to give financially to Republicans, give only to individual candidates/politicians who support or vote to secure our borders and don’t cater to illegals!!!

The news is not as good in Ohio.

DeWine beat Pierce in a Republican primary race for the senate.

Pierce was the good guy(Antil-illegal alien). He got 14% of the vote in the Republican primary.

Almost 60% of Free Republic poll respondents state that they will not vote for the Republican in the next election if something drastic isn't done to secure the borders, penalize employers, and deport illegals.

This is the GOP's base - let's hope they're listening. Even if half of the respondants cave in, that's still 30% of the base that won't vote for them. Enough to swing the election.
