Dozens of ultra-Orthodox break into internet café, claiming place incites haredi community to commit sins Haim Levinson
Religious dispute in Jerusalem: Dozens of riled up ultra-orthodox broke into a Jerusalem internet café Monday, broke the doors and shattered the computers, claiming the place incites the haredi community to commit sins.
Police called to Shabbat Square were shocked to find dozens of ultra-Orthodox insulting memory of fallen soldiers rioting, setting dumpsters on fire and blocking traffic; police say they view incident with extreme gravity but fail to make any arrests
On Monday night, the ultra-Orthodox crowd arrived at the internet café located in the center of the capital and began harassing other haredi people who were at the place surfing the internet. The rowdy crowd attempted to break into the place, but was unsuccessful after an employee locked the doors.
The haredi crowd shattered the glass doors, went in and broke the computers and the cash register, Israel's leading newspaper reported Tuesday.
'We won't give up'
A special police force was dispatched to the place and forcefully dispersed the crowd, arresting five men.
"They have been harassing us for six months since most of the customers here are ultra-orthodox," said Max, who works at the place. "We will rebuild the place and will not give up."
Thus far the ultra-Orthodox community resorted to taking pictures of the customers and intimidating them. Last week, however, rabbis of the community met and decided to escalate the fight and destroy other internet cafés.
As I have said before they are a short step away from the islamocrazies.
We went to Israel in March. Our tour guide told us that haredis would throw rocks at tour buses on the Sabbath as late as last year. Finally, the Tourism minister went to the leading rabbi and told him what this did to the image of haredis with tourists. The rock throwing stopped.
On the flight over, a hasidic jewish man refused to sit next to my wife in the window seat (she was sitting in the middle seat). The flight attendant was going to pitch him off the plane, but I switched with her. A good man two rows behind us invited one of us to sit in an empty seat on his row so I could sit over from this man.
Very quaint traditions. One thing the ultra-orthodox do, however, is have lots of kids, since they are supported by the hasidics in the United States.
CUKOO
I tend to dislike and distrust any ultra-orthodox or fundamentalist of any religion.
Sigh. Luddites.
You comment suggests that you are a prudent and intelligent person.

--- This is a great example of the difference between Judeo-Christian culture and Islamic culture.
Yes, there was a riot & property damage ... but ....
No Bombs !!!!
...those were Orthodox Jews, dude. Not Moose Limbs.
Oh, never mind. I just understood what you were trying to get across.
The only difference, as far as I can tell, is that they haven't killed randomly --- yet.
I am convinced that is partly a reflection of numbers. Whenever they congregate in larger numbers they become bolder.. and more violent. I suspect that their rabbis would turn from inciting property damage to more violent attacks on the heathens who don't follow their dictums.

I had a friend who travelled through Israel five years ago and went hiking. She and several of her friends were learing long shorts (Knee length or slightly lower). When they passed through one of the more orthodox areas, the teenagers came and hurled rocks, screaming abuse while the adults did nothing.
It severely damaged her impression of Israel which up to that point had been 100%.It wasn't helped a week later when she went rock climbing and the guide informed her through her brother that if she fell she should reach out to one of her friends because he would not touch a woman.
Aside from those two belmishes though, the rest of the visit was pleasant enough, but it certainly ended her thoughts of living there. I wonder how many other young Jews have felt the samw way...
Sounds like a Jewish version of Phred the Phag Phelps and his subhuman Westboro Sodomite Cult.
(Did you speak at my synagogue last Saturday?)
Let's get real here. As nutty as these people are, they didn't behead anyone, or even think about beheading anyone. Most of their co-religionists think that going into an Internet Cafe and destroying the property there is a crime. These folks will untimately find themselves in prison and probably be forced to make restitution to the owner of the Internet Cafe.
Now tell, me, what exactly is the similarity between these criminals and the Islamic Swine to which you compared them? Or do you also find similarities between Islamic Swine and some nut who damages a fur coat? Maybe you advocate the death penalty for every crime?
ML/NJ
In the Hasidic section of Brooklyn, while nowhere near this nuts, they did exert a lot of pressure on businesses to not open on Sabbath
"As I have said before they are a short step away from the islamocrazies."
A tad of an overstatement, non?
"More from the ultranutty-orthodox Jews. What a crew. Thank God they don't dare to pull these stunts in the USA.
As I have said before they are a short step away from the islamocrazies."
Megabump. Nutcase zealots who have a fetish for the 7th century, group think and chicken bone religious values.
You are right. They have not beheaded anyone. I think guns are the favored method to dispatch heathens whom they feel threatened by. Ultraorthonuts have killed jews, palestinians and others in the name of their religion, or perhaps you are unaware of massacres committed by religiously inspired haredi in Israel. Rabin would very likely be alive were it not for such virulent religious inspiration.
Also, I hope you would agree that their use of firebombs and rocks in Israel may yet produce fatalities amongst those brazen enough to hold in custody, a haredi child murder suspect or drive a car through their neighborhood on the sabbath.
One of the most distressing aspects is the silence of, and in some cases the support or instigation of their religious leadership- the rabbid rabbis. Anytime religious leaders do not condemn violent followers they should be shunned. Even worse, some of these nuts not only tacitly sanction such behavior - they incite their drones to perpetrate such acts.
No, Im afraid the differences in the degree of violence are likely more a reflection of relative numbers: tens of thousands (ultraorthocrazies) vs a millions (muslimnuts). I have little doubt that they would be a much bigger problems were they a majority.
