We went to Israel in March. Our tour guide told us that haredis would throw rocks at tour buses on the Sabbath as late as last year. Finally, the Tourism minister went to the leading rabbi and told him what this did to the image of haredis with tourists. The rock throwing stopped. In the Hasidic section of Brooklyn, while nowhere near this nuts, they did exert a lot of pressure on businesses to not open on Sabbath
