Here is the Election Countdown Counter at Mike DeWine's campaign site as it appears today, May 1 (go to bottom of page):
It's one thing, if you're Mike DeWine, to be looking forward to the general election on November 7.
It's another to be so confident of a primary victory that you use a clock that counts down to the general election.
But it's beyond belief, after getting your CLOCK CLEANED (so to speak) three out of five times in ballot-based county endorsement meetings (eking out one tie and one win), to not even acknowledge that there's a Primary Election taking place tomorrow.
(On the bright side, maybe his supporters will forget there IS a primary tomorrow.)
I would prefer to believe that an accurate DeWine clock at this time would look like this:
It CAN happen. Mike DeWine's retirement announcement CAN take place tomorrow. Tell your friends, your family, your neighbots -- There's a genuine conservative, citizen-legislator alternative. He's Bill Pierce. His web site is here. His blog is here. Contribute here.
Vote for Bill Pierce on May 2.
On Primary Election Day, let's have Bill Pierce take over custody of that November election clock.
Betcha didn't know Mike DeWine has had his butt kicked several times this year, including a third-place HUMILIATION just four weeks ago, did ya? Thanks to media laziness, almost no one does.
Four out of the five times Mike DeWine was involved in ballot-based county endorsement proceedings, he failed to win. He LOST in Knox County (to Pierce), he LOST in Clermont County (to Pierce), he FINISHED THIRD as noted above in Fulton County (Pierce tied with another candidate), and he could only tie Pierce in Preble County. DeWine's sole win was in Miami County.
The grass-roots does not like Mike DeWine, and I mean REALLY doesn't like him.
The grass roots is responding to Bill Pierce who, as you can see if you read his Statement of Principles, is a genuine and articulate conservative and will be the citizen legislator our Founders envisioned, in the mold of a Coburn or DeMint.
Bill Pierce needs our support.

Mike DeWine has only two allies: Apathy, and Inertia. Bill Pierce can crush both of them on May 2 if we support him now, and if Ohio conservatives turn out and vote the issues in the voting booth. Let's roll.

I will do my part.
I tell this now and then:
Back in 1968 in California, we had a "RINO" senator named Tom Kuchel (pronounced KEE-kl). He was appointed to replace Nixon when Nixon became VP, and then got re-elected twice on his own. We decided he had to go. So we ran the more conservative Max Rafferty, the controversial State Superintendent of Public Instruction, against him in the primary. Max won the primary. However, he lost to the Democratic State Controller Alan Cranston in the general election. Cranston severed 4 terms before retiring because of ill health and age.
We cut off our noses to spite our faces, but boy were we ever principled.
I plan to vote Pierce in Hamilton County.
So, we can be afraid of electing a Dem in November, or we can vote and get a real conservative in office.
It's risky... but as Stonewall Jackson said, "Never take counsel of your fears."
So have you given up your principles altogether because of that incident or are you still fighting to advance them?
I agree with BayNative re: Specter.
Don't live in Ohio but GOOD LUCK!!!
Save your rant for 2008.
Whoever runs the Ohio ping list, ping everyone! If you already have, disregard my post.
While that one didn't work out it doesn't mean it'll never work out. He made his bed let him lie in it.
So, you would just as soon have Pat Leahy as the chairman, along with Carl Levin as the Armed Services chairman?
Say what you will about Arlen (and plenty can be said), but Mr. Scottish Law did well getting the President's nominees through, and he slapped Kennedy down HARD.
But you have to admit that after Cranston California ended up with two reliable Conservatives, Box-O-Rox and DiFi.
OK, they're far-Left libs, but at least they aren't RINOS!!
I sometimes think this website is attracting pathological manic depressives.
You'll notice that the 25 worst Senators are Democrats (along with Jeffords). Then you get to the first RINO, Chaffee. You don't find the next RINO until you get to Collins, the 44th worst. DeWine is at number 48. That means that of 100 senators, 47 had worse records than DeWine.
Ya, we'd lose some pork.
Oh wait, that's not so bad.

Decent lifetime rating, bad 2004 rating, worse 2005, not a good trend.
Oh well I've never voted for DeWine in a primary before, I'm not starting tomorrow. I expect the little weasle to win tomorrow, but not by all that much and certainly without my vote.
