This should be a list of who is planning to close their business on Monday, May 1 in response of the Great American Boycott. We should compile it and boycott them ourselves if possible!
Remember to go shopping or work overtime on May 1!

I hardly ever buy beer, but will pick up a case of your product at the grocery store today. Do you all have any microbrewery type beers under your label?

You stated: "
The plant closings on the other hand are a neccessity as nobody can run a plant without 60% of their workforce, legal or not. "
You are missing the point. The fact that they are closed indicates they most likely have illegals working for them. This is the basis for the boycott. Not that they closed in sympathy or support of the march.
In the case of Tyson it is for sure they do. Don't ask, I am not going to answer the question that generates.
If we can keep the boycott going until something comes of it, it will prove to be true.

It used to be a celebration of springtime in Merry Ole England...flowers, festivities, maypolies, drinking & dancing
The Puritans banned it in Plymouth Colony because people might accidently have fun.....

May Day is symbolic of fertility rites and has been so since the dawn of time.
Beltane in neopaganism (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beltane) In neopaganism, the name Beltane or Beltaine is used for a sabbat, one of the eight solar holidays, which is celebrated on this day. Although the holiday uses features of the Gaelic Beltane, such as the bonfire, it bears more relation to the Germanic May Day festival, both in its significance (focusing on fertility) and its rituals (such as maypole dancing). Some Pagans celebrate High Beltaine by reenacting intercourse between the May Lord and Lady. Gerald Gardner, one of the principal originators of the Wiccan religion, referred to the holiday as May Eve.
Among the neopagan sabbats, Beltane is a cross-quarter day; it is celebrated in the northern hemisphere on May 1 and in the southern hemisphere on November 1. Beltane follows Ostara and precedes Midsummer (see the Wheel of the Year).
May Pole (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maypole) The maypole is a tall wooden pole (traditionally of hawthorn or birch), sometimes erected with several long colored ribbons suspended from the top, festooned with flowers, draped in greenery and strapped with large circular wreaths, depending on local and regional variances.
With roots in Germanic paganism, the maypole traditionally appears in most Germanic countries and Germanic country-bordering, most popularly in Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Finland (including the Åland islands) and Sweden in modern times for Spring, May Day, Beltane and Midsummer festivities and rites...{snip}
Symbolism
The Maypole is often considered a phallic symbol, coinciding with the worship of Germanic phallic figures such as that of Freyr. Potential other meanings include symbolism relating to the Yggdrasil, a symbolic axis linking the underworld, the world of the living, the heavens and numerous other realms. Also likely related, reverence for sacred trees can be found in surviving accounts of Germanic tribes, for example, Thor's Oak, Adam of Bremen's account of Sacred groves and the Irminsul. The present day tradition of maypoles coincides geographically with the area of influence of the Germanic mythos...

The Big 4 meat companies produce and distribute over 90% of the meat this nation consumes. They will sell different labels based on quality and location. If you've ever wondered why everything tastes the same, it's because it is the same!
Most restaurants use the same wholesale food suppliers who in turn buy from the same producers.
And yes, illegal labor goes into most corporate food production at some level.
They pass the savings on to you-That's why your meat, eggs, milk, cheese and butter are so incredibly cheap! /sarcasm

I once was told that stores will re-wrap Tyson brands when it gets to the "less fresh" point.
So....I don't know if there is a way to actually boycott all brands all the time.

fuming that this country is on a downward course, and FURIOUS that the people I worked to get elected have betrayed me, once again. We are losing. Don't even attempt to argue with me on that one.I'm now convinced that this country is completely ungovernable.

Here is a hispanic business to
SUPPORT"JumBurrito Inc. Founder and President Jose Cuevas Jr. has 135 employees at six locations. Cuevas said employees of his fast-food restaurants have been urged to support the company and told in letters they have a right to protest on their own time.
If employees walk off the job, it means immediate termination, and two unexcused absences can mean suspension or termination, said Cuevas, a third-generation American."

I would not neccessarily agree with that. I work with a smaller plant that I absolutely know has no illegals on his workforce but still experienced a high % of hispanic no shows. I'm afraid that there are a lot of "sympathy" protests going on in these plants by legals.
I don't have enough experience with Tyson to disagree with your assertion that they "definately" have illegals on the payroll so I'll take your word on it.

My apologies if this has already been posted, but there's some decent information for DC Metro-area locals/vistors
here
Including
But while some restaurants -- a Wendy's in Arlington, for example, and the French La Chamier in Georgetown -- were closed because of the boycott, local hotels reported that only a few people requested the day off and others showed up for work as usual.
There's also an Outback in Herndon ... I think my family feels like having steak for dinner tonight.

Here's a question... I know I'm just a simpleton..but if it's common knowledge that the workers at these meat plants are illegals, why doesn't the government just RAID THEM?????

Cargill Beef and National Beef and Seaboard. Boycott meat for a week!!! This wouldn't even be a problem for me, really (I eat meat, but not a lot), but it seems like PETA might like it too much. ;-))
