PRESIDENTIAL NEWS OF THE DAY: President and Mrs. Bush attended St. John's Church this morning, as is their custom when spending the weekend at the White House. Last night they attended the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner, where the President and his "alter ego," comedian Steve Bridges, stole the show.
The best review I found is on USA Today's website. Since I'm not sure how much of their material we can excerpt, I'll just provide a link. The article includes a nearly complete transcript of the President's and Mrs. Bridges routine.

Former Senator Fred Thompson and his wife. When did Fred Thompson get married? I'd read just a few years ago about him being one of DC's eligible bachelor. She's lovely, and quite a bit younger than he.

Featured entertainer Stephen Colbert delivered a biting rebuke of George W. Bush and the lily-livered press corps. He did it to Bush's face, unflinching and unbowed by the audience's muted, humorless response."Sounds like Colbert is being damned by faint praise.

Until this weekend, Rasmussen had weighted the Republicans and Democrats in his sample EQUALLY . . . This weekend (and for the near future) he has decided to give Democrats a 3.1 point advantage in his weighting forumula, and like magic, the President's approval rating has decreased by 3 points and his disapproval rating had increased by 3 points!
Personally, I think Rasmussen was embarrassed that his ratings were typically 3-8 points higher than the typical MSM poll and decided to adjust his weightings accordingly!
IGNORE THE POLLS . . . They're all BOGUS!

Well, he sure was cynical and ugly last night.
Anyone who had thought about watching his show had better think again now.
He set a new standard for ugly, IMO.

"The routine between the President and Bridges was
wonderful."
It was, and was the only watchable part .. the MC, the AP guy, was horrible, the video about the poor suffering WH press corps was terrible, and the Cobert routine was disgusting. THey should stop using a professional comedian after the President (whichever president) does his gig. Anything else is going to be anti-climatic, but last night's was just downright disgusting.

Oh..........I'm sure the Cheney stuff had the VP's approval.
I wish they had shown the President's face when he said the "intersex" line. By the time they got to showing his face, he was still grinning like a Cheshire Cat! ;)

Yep ... he's great. His twin is with my old hometown TB Bucs .. and their mom just did an outstanding job bringing them up alone. God bless her, she's raised two fine young men.
