The terrorits that flew the plane into the Pentagon
lived in the same city as Nord and myself. They lived
inbetween the areas where we live in San Diego

Oooh fireworks. That reminds me. I'm gonna turn off my lights and turn on my Christmas lights. They're pretty and sparkly.

Very true comments it is sad that in 2006 there is still a stigma to it if one has a broken leg or a serious physical illness one is treated so different from someone who suffers from depression or has had a nervous breakdown.

I speak from personal experience because my father had a mental break down when he was 21 due to being trapped down a mine for 36 hours and being the sole survivor in the pocket he was in. There were other survivors in the mine but not in that area.

This was a depiction of how the people on the plane attempted to save the plane from the hijackers.

They knew that we were at war and tried to stop the plane from crashing into any building.

Nothing more and nothing less.

Don't know what you were expecting.

thanks...it was hard work, as I'm sure every parent on this site knows. But as I look at them now, it was worth it. Now my poor sister, well one of her daughters is a (whisper) democrat....my brother-in-law is praying that it is a phase.

Thanks for that explanation, it's exactly what my mom tries to tell me. As I said, she's so right about my not understanding depression, not being prone to it myself. THank goodness.

Sometimes you feel like a complete idiot. Get in line, behind most of us.

People who have high expectations of themselves often feel they are not measuring up.

Give yourself permission to do your best and if it's not perfect, well, maybe next time.

Your feelings are far more typical than you can imagine.

Second the motion.

Depression is often an inherited problem making enough neurotransmitters.

Because you don't have as much mental and thus physical energy as the next person, you can feel you aren't as good as the next person.

Medications can help boost your mental and physical energy so you can keep up with the crowd, and therapy sessions can help you undo the baggage of low self esteem that comes from fighting this condition over an extended period of time.

Regardless, you do need to be under a good doctor's care. If you're feeling worthless then a psychiatrist or someone else who can talk with you about how to undo the low self esteem is essential as well.

But, I'm sure at least half the people in the world aren't as neat as you are even now, and with treatment I'll bet few people in the world could hold a candle to you.

I know. Mine's genetic. My father has it, his father had it. I'm just tired of trying things. I've been to more than half a dozen counselors. I've been on at least 10 different medications. Nothing's helped. After my second suicide attempt, I was hospitalized for 10 days. I swore I would never do it again. Seven months later, I did. I get so sick of everything.

My niece is in college now, and before that she showed conservative tendencies (they live in NY state and she always rooted for the Republicans, like my sister and b-i-l). She has 1 year to go and already she's a good little marxist. I'm praying it's a phase for her too and when she experiences more of real life it will dawn on her what a crock it all is.

my mom had it, but refused to acknowledge it. She had several break downs while I was growing up. It had it's effects on all of us kids in different ways... most of it in negative ways.

You'll gain self confidence....it comes with time for people who are "shy." I know....I was one of them, too. Depression is a message that says you need to change something....and YOU are doing that. (Off my soapbox now.) And, by the way, you seem mature beyond your years.

I think that is one of basic problems because someone who is depressed or has had a break down can look normal but is suffering from severe chemical imbalance which often affects how they see themselves in relation to the rest of the world.

This does not mean that they are not rational and cannot make rational decisions nor does it mean that their judgment should be questioned as regards to being a witness etc.

Because of the above often people suffering any form of mental illness are not willing to discuss it or admit they are suffering from it.

One possitive thing is that ilovew does discuss it here and this is healthy.
