WASHINGTON - As gasoline prices have spiked above $3 a gallon throughout the country, the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll finds that the publics view of President Bushs job, the economy and the nations direction have continued to decline. But with the midterm elections just six months away, the biggest drop in the survey 11 points in one month is in the approval rating of Congress, which is locked in a bitter debate over what do about these gas prices, immigration, Iraq and a host of other issues.
You have never seen such a sour mood in the country, says Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted this survey with Republican Bill McInturff. It is sour, sour, sour.
And in that sour mood, the poll shows, registered voters say they prefer Democrats controlling Congress but by a smaller margin than in the past few NBC/Journal surveys.
According to the poll, Bushs approval rating fell by one point from last month to 36 percent, his lowest mark in the survey. But the troubling news for Bush doesnt stop there: Hart explains that Bush has now spent nine consecutive months at 40 percent or below in the poll, a feat exceeded only by Richard Nixon (13 months) and Harry Truman (26 months).

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
There are two means of affecting the price of a commodity, change the supply or change the demand. The actions that the democRATs have taken in obstructing new oil supply have resulted in increased prices, and every time the price goes up, it is the democRATs who call for price relief and subsequently preventing the normal drop in demand with the higher price.
Yes, I would say that YOU are brainwashed!
Total B.S.
You should brush up on high school economics before you start tossing around foolish denials.
...and their numbers are still higher than what people think of the MSM...
I think the Republicans are going down in flames if they don't get right on the immigration issue immediately, even if the situation in Iraq starts to improve.
Spending more money for border agents isn't going to hack it. If the Republicans don't go for a fence or troops on the border, the base will stay home in November. They also need to get off of the path to citizenship bandwagon. Bush and the Republican leadership are completely clueless on the whole immigration issue.
I don't know, if I came on a site and expressed an opinion backed up by a good solid proportion of posters, and was called names, I would be walking on eggs too.
>>>>>>Bush and the Republican leadership are completely clueless on the whole immigration issue.<<<<<<<<<
YEAH, and Ted Kennedy's plan is a whole lot better.
It may have escaped your notice, but this is a rather conservative website. When one bursts upon the scene with a spirited defense of the Democrats in the first posts of his first day aboard, that's bound to raise a few eyebrows.
If you're surprised at your welcome, you need to spend a bit more time studying human nature.
Here's a compare & contrast scenario for you - go over to DU and register a new account today. Make your first three or four posts in defense of President Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, and Tony Snow. Report back here and let us know exactly how long you survived before being banned.
Yes, its been a while since I took Econ in college - one of my least favorite subjects. But I do understand supply & demand. And I know that demand is up, while our supplies are more limited but come on, 2 years ago gas was $1.50 here in Texas.
That may be true, but the issue here is that it is not Bushes fault.
Bushes = Bush's
You need to look into the increase in demand from India and China. It's a world wide market.
My first post did nothing to support the Dem's and trash the Rep's. All as asked was how are people brainwashed because they are unhappy about the price of gas, immigration, Iraq and a host of other issues <-- as it stated in the article.
Going over to DU and making posts in defense of President Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, and Tony Snow is COMPLETELY different
Perhaps a better exercise would be to jump in feet first on the Democtaic Underground LIHOP and MIHOP crowd who believe that the President took an active role in allowing the destructive events of 9/11 to occur. Ask those folks what kind of brainwashing they've undergone. Let us know how you're received after a post or two in that vein.
guess we got confused. I wasn't commenting on the title, buts the 'brainwashed' part.
Sorry about that.
Then why follow that statement with, "but come on, 2 years ago gas was $1.50 here in Texas," as if there is some kind of conspiracy?
Welcome to Free Republic, p-turtle.
Denver's right. This site is surprisingly "liberal" compared to most lefty sites.
Until people figure out you're not trolling, it's a good idea to `go along to get along'.
I totally agree.Bush's numbers are down because he has turned a blind eye to the citizens of our country and is bowing down to criminal illegals. It's disgusting. It's wrong for the country and sticks us law abiding folks in the eye.
The Teddy Kennedy plan and the Bush plan are pretty much one in the same.
