George W. Bush finally weighed in on the great immigration debate yesterday, singing the song beloved by Corporate Republicans: "Give us your tired, your poor/ Your unemployed masses yearning to breeze in free/ The wretched refuse of the steaming poor/ Send these, the readily abused/ Greedy employers wait at the golden door." The president didn't put it in those words, exactly; language and rhetoric are not his cup of latte. The sentiment was clear enough, with the anvil chorus sung with particular gusto: "Businesses have difficulty filling jobs Americans will not do." He might have added, but didn't, "at least not at the wages the employers at the golden door will pay."

Such a disappointment Bush has turned out to be. All the good he has done is overshadowed by his treatment of lawbreaking ILLEGAL immigrants.
They misspelled "Jorge."
"Businesses have difficulty filling jobs Americans will not do." He might have added, but didn't, "at least not at the wages the employers at the golden door will pay."
Only in some people's minds.
He is so generous in giving our country away isn't he

For you closet Dems who showed up just before the 2004 election, I can imagine he would be.
Welcome to FreeRepublic....
...blah blah blah....
The closet marxists seem to love the great American sell out.
......for the miserly salary we pay our illegals
.....I really sick of hearing this mantra....
The bottom line is this... paying illegals meager wages keeps the industry salary at a artificial low..
If salaries are allowed to rise with the market value of the workers, so does the entire economy
Couple this with a 6-8 BILLION (so reported elsewhere)draw out of the US economy each year going to Mexico and the cost in ancillary services they use. You have a national economy that although is rising, could be skyrocketing. Keeping wages low causes savings to be low, the purchasing power of American families low,and the general exchange of currency to stagnate.
No way are these folks GOOD for the American Economy
Government as a whole.
Impossible to deport all these illegals. Now that's so right...if you go after the employers stopping jobs to illegals, stop all free fed help including our schools...tax funds sent back to Mexico at 50%...they'll leave, we'll not have to waste money deporting them.
It's OK to break the law by importing cheap labor, but it's not ok to go to Canda for cheap medicine.
W is an accomplice to this invasion. How do you say Quisling in Spanish? El Queesleeng?
Do you buy cheese?
