Hitchens is the very definition of an independent thinker. Wish I was that clever.

Clever all right, but he's for sale. I lost interest in anything he might have to say when I saw him savaging W on BBC. Actually that's not true. I lost interest in him when he stated in re Thatcher's poll tax and the possibility of violence that he always liked to see the workers get violent with the rulers - something like that.

That said, he is very smart, and quickly picked up on support for taking the war to the Islamists as a way of maintaining his market share.

At least she got caught...I was asking a military friend (whose a military intelligence officer) last night why did it take so long. Porter has been director a few months before Bush was re-elected. He said she knew how to avoid detection. He also said she'll go to jail for this. I ask him why he's so sure...he said she has too...otherwise, it'll give others with security clearance with classified info a GREEN LIGHT to leak.

He is among the last of the principled Left who put Country before Party and do what has to be done for the long term.

Victor Davis Hanson is also a Democrat, I believe and is one of the most thoughtful writers out there.

Had this been a GOP operative...it damn sure would have been brought up by ALL of the dems..and they would have used "culture of corruption", over and over!

I didn't know about the amica brief myself...

Hitchens can be "iffy" on certain subjects...he is really against Bush's NSA program...and filed a suit because he feels like HE might have been wiretapped...

She's not in handcuffs for two very good reasons. She has more information that she can use as blackmail and if she were charged, she could call her accusers to the stand and interrogate them. The government won't let that happen.

As you read here first, this summer is going to be a bad one for a certain group of Democrats, the beginning of the end is the discovery of Mary O. McCarthy and her acts of treason.
