Zarqawi's Tawid al-Jihad was behind the last attack on Egypt.

Follows right on the heels of this:

Newly caught terror cell planned to attack US, Israeli targets in Egypt

A terrorist cell calling itself "The Victorious Sect" had plans to strike US and Israeli targets inside Egypt "to avenge what's happening to Muslims in Iraq and Palestine", Al-Ahram newspaper reported Saturday quoting the cell's newly captured leaders.

One of the investigators in the case told the daily that the first suspect named Ahmed Mohammed Ali Gabr known as Abu Musaab, gave information on how the terrorist cell was formed and confessed that "Jihad" was its objective.

The investigator quoted the suspect as saying that Musaab Al-Zarqawi, Al-Qaeda network's leader in Iraq, was his hero and that the terrorist cell met in their homes to avoid being caught by authorities.

The prosecution of the supreme state security is currently investigating the 22 members of the cell, charged for planning to execute terrorist activities against tourism targets and to assassinate some religious clerics.

Security authorities in Cairo announced the capture of the cell last Wednesday naming its leader, Abu Musaab, a 27 year old student in the college of arts, and his aide Ahmed Basioni known as Abu Bakr Al-Masri.

A statement by the interior ministry said "Information, documents and interviews ... confirmed that they were planning to carry out terrorist operations against tourist targets, the gas pipeline on the Greater Cairo ring road and some sensitive sites through bombings." "They were also studying targeting some Muslim and Christian religious figures and ... what they called degenerate youth in tourist areas," it added.

I'll never get to Egypt and the rest of the beautiful, historic ME at this rate. It just isn't safe. What a shame.

Didn't Egpyt just release about 1000 former terrorists from its jails this past month?
