His speech started about 8 minutes ago. You can listen live at http://760kfmb.com/listen_live/
I really like all the posters involved, but I want to admit I know owf the best.
I've gone back to read the exchanges and IMO, some posts just got a little out of hand. The immigration ISSUE is HOT and tempers flare.
ohioWfan is right about this: but for 9/11, President Bush's immigration plan (which has not changed) was about to be enacted.
What is more accurate is to say he is in favor of appearing to be enforcing the laws.
I'll try to remember to ping you to the posts about him.
That's because it's bottomline result, illegal alien amnesty, has been sufficiently obfuscated to bambozzle a lot of people.
IMHO he is the most Reaganesque
Rides horses too!
I disagree with you. That's the job of the federal government, not the government of Texas.
Do you know what is the equivalent of impeachment for a governor in Texas?
Why would a Republican State House and Congress impeach a Republican governor?
it worse then that now, more like 45 minutes from the courthouse to the freeway..
I didn't read all the posts, but I stand by everything I have said and it is NOT Bush-bashing. It is truth. And I don't need to stop any of my posting unless the moderators ask me to.
No one is perfect, and that includes the president. He is dead wrong on the issue. He has a blind spot, a soft spot for Mexicans, does not understand where the border is and what it means, or SHOULD mean. He is not aware of what fine people American citizens are, as he insults us every single time with his "jobs Americans won't do" rhetoric. And, I add, these are citizens who campaigned and voted for him, who pay taxes and play by the rules. When he insults us, it makes me damn mad!!!!!
While that may well be true, conservatives have waited in vain for it to evolve into something realistic and effective. Patience and benefit of a doubt can be sustained only so long.
No. Some conservatives have expected Bush to morph into Tancredo. That was never going to happen.
In the Katrina recovery work that is going on here in Mississippi, the problem long-time local contractors are finding is that there are not enough Americans that are willing to work for the normal construction wages they pay. Many that do take a job, show up late for work, drink on the job, or quit in the middle of a job. They are also tearing up expensive equipment, and then not alerting anyone to that fact.
Many contractors are forced to hire illegal mexicans, as they cannot find ENOUGH Americans willing to work. Many of these mexicans will work from daylight to dark, while many long-time construction workers start cleaning up at 3PM for a 3:30PM quitting time.
This can be seen every day in Mississippi, for those that want to believe that I am lying.
BTW, Reagan is on record using (in speeches concerning immigration), the "hated phrase" "Work Americans will not do"! It's on the net, so check it out!
BTW, I am for securing the borders, and deporting all illegals. Then we can talk about a "guest worker" program.
LLS
Not me.
That's why I'm praying so hard for the President about this, and writing e-mails and making phone calls to our Senators.
As for spectre.....she can't see straight. She's got a goofy idea in her head about me, and nothing I say will get it out of there.
If you don't mind, please tell her for me that I'm not interested in any more of her emotional insults based on wrongheaded ideas about me.
Thanks. Nice to see you again, FRiend.
"I think George Allen is misrepresented in the listing."
When that listing came out is was representative of his stance. I spoke with his office on March 29th and his position was very wishy washy. He had NO position on a fence, virtual or otherwise at that time.
April 3rd I spoke to his office again and his positions sounded a little stronger. Would consider a guest worker program later, but no path to citizenship or amnesty. Supported a "virtual" fence that day.
April 24th, today at 2:00 his position now:
Fence - Virtual with physical barriers in some areas.
Guest Worker Program - NOT if it contains a path to citizenship, ie NO to Frist's bill #S2454.
Illegals - "They have no rights as citizens." When I asked if he supported deportation the eventual answer was yes.
I spoke with Frist's office and learned that his bill has now lost support and has been removed. His office is also saying he now supports a virtual fence with some actual.
I wonder if it has to do with the poll he has on his pac site:
http://www.volpac.org/
Do you support amnesty for illegal aliens?
Have a good day, yourself, SeaBiscuit. :)
Perhaps if Bush had not suggested that opponents of his proposed amnesty were racist and/or lacking in compassion he would not be taking the blowback from his base (or what once was his base).
No, I guess not.
Is it true Frist has changed his mind and will not be pushing the guest worker program?
