When I was a kid in the 60's, the manager would chase us out of the store when he knew we weren't buying cough syrup for a cough. Shoo! Shoo!
It worked well.
That law came into effect in Kentucky last year and it really has helped cut down on meth production. Problem is far from solved, but it's better. I don't have a problem with having to sign a form to get medication.
This is another ill conceived law that criminalizes people for buying over the counter medicine, rather than those who make and use meth. Many people in this country, even some of our FRiends, find these laws acceptable if they do some good. Not only do they not consider any negative consequences of this law, they do not consider the precedent it sets in regards to further criminalizing victimless actions.
I'm not saying there isn't a major problem with meth labs, or terrorists using drugs to fund their ops. I blame a lot of this nonsense on PC. Instead of looking at who is most likely to be engaged in terror, the govt throws a vast net over the country. I don't believe either party wants to become tyrants, but by their actions, they make it more likely. All of these "helpful" & "Urgently needed" laws for this or that "crisis" are disturbing. We are frogs in slowly boiling water.
I have been signing for it in Illinois for a long time but was in Oklahoma a couple of weeks ago and bought it without showing id or signing anything.
Agreed...
In Texas, the police just go into bars and arrest those who appear to be to drunk to drive.
And now meth will just come up from mexico, like was already happening...
Dumb laws like this do nothing to stop the big distributors. This will just give them more power. The only thing it will hamper is the small time meth makers.
Hey, maybe we should seal the border? Here is Missouri the law is working.
That wont be a problem for much longer. Manufacturers of Pseudoephedrine are already moving to Phenylephrine. In a few years it'll be hard for meth labs to even find Pseudoephedrine.
Not coming from south of the border it won't.
And, when turned into Meth we are no longer discussing dancing merry makers, but something more like crazy people with their teeth falling out.
Is that the precedent?
They also have a higher than normal death rate.
"When it comes to Meth, there are ONLY small time operators ~ most with their teeth falling out ~ another hazard with that stuff."
Wrong, wrong wrong.

"Mexican criminal groups, who often operate high capacity superlabs, are the primary producers of methamphetamine in the Pacific and Southwest Regions; however, Caucasian independent producers also are active, typically operating low capacity laboratories capable of producing ounce quantities of methamphetamine."
http://www.coolnurse.com/meth.htm
"Historically, suppliers of methamphetamine in the United States were gangs and other independent trafficking groups. Although gangs continue to produce meth and control a share of the market, Mexico-based trafficking groups entered the illicit methamphetamine market in 1995 and now dominate the trade. With their ability to obtain wholesale (multi-ton) quantities of precursor chemicals on the international market, their access to already established smuggling and distribution networks, and their control over laboratories capable of large-scale production and distribution of methamphetamine, these criminal groups from Mexico now dominate wholesale meth trafficking in the United States.
Over the past few years, these groups revolutionized the production and distribution of methamphetamine by operating super labs that can produce unprecedented quantities of high-purity methamphetamine. Each such lab is capable of producing 10 pounds or more per manufacturing cycle. "
What did I say about "small time operators". 'at's 'em.
For sure. Meth is ok, it won't hurt anyone. You just keep dreaming those dreams.
