MAYBE, the terrorists could pull off a Dirty Bomb.

Maybe. In a small city they might. Major cities are being quietly monitored for radiation. The equipment that they use is so sensitive that they can tell who has had a stress test in the past month from twenty feet.

And that is just the stuff I know about.

We are in far more danger from a large conventional bomb. But it doesn't sound as scary.

If we get hit with nukes, you might want to revisit your "analysis"

Don't get me wrong, I hope you are right.
But you are not...

I am sure I will.

But most people, after the first initial shake up when they are running on pure emotion, tend to be inclined toward logic and reason for the most part.

Please note the most. Not every body is this way but the majority are. And none of what you suggest would in anyway help prevent another attack which would be the expressed goal. So I simply don't see such thinks happening.

Well, certainly OBL is the cleverest criminal ever. It's harder to find a more wanted man than he-- by the world's largest superpower-- and yet, he is still a free man-- who exercises his freedoms frequently enough. It doesn't even matter how he manages it (co-operation from millions of Islamists around the world), because the fact is that he pulled off the biggest crime in American history and he is laughing his ass off in freedom.

The reality is "time" was on UBL (and Zawahiri, M. Omar and several other HVTs) side in the short run (to avoid being captured / killed) because of the region of the world where they have ekked out their survival - The Afghan / Pak border region -

That variable (time) is now slowly turning back in our favor - But the simply reality is they survived in a region of the world that is autonomous (for the most part) to any centralized Gov't, where tribal leaders and warlords run the show (where outsiders are quickly spotted and despised) and the terrain is the most brutal on earth. The Afghan / Pakistan border (alone) stretches 1,500 miles—roughly the distance from Washington, D.C., to Denver (the complete Pakistan border is more then 2,000 miles....much of it in completely lawless regions...that have been that way for well over a century).

Trying to run sustained operations in this region at times is almost impossible. The logistics alone are a nightmare.

All these variables add up to why UBL remains alive and why time was on his side in the short run. But he is being systematically encircled and he is far from laughing his as$ off. He has seen over 3/4 of his senior leadership killed or captured, thousands and thousands of foot-soldiers killed, his cause has suffered one strategic defeat after another (while we have not suffered one).

We have brave warriors hunting his as$ (and other HVTs) risking their lives 24/7 to nail these SOB's (and they will).

You also said -- "It's the America that scares the s--- out of Bin Laden and all those who have pledged their lives to the destruction of any who disagree with them.

Americans have pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to defend and uphold the concept that we will be a free people dedicated to the idea that all of us are created equal."

It's not America that bin Laden should be afraid of. Rather.., it's the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that he should be afraid of.

And it's this same God who is the one who "endows" us with certain unalienable rights. It's not America who does this. And these rights are not simply "American rights". They are the rights that the Creator (the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob) gave to "human beings" -- not Americans.

It does America well that she has "codified" some of these rights -- but it's not uniquely American. Rather, it's "Biblical'.

I hope you have your "foundation" correct, and that foundation does not lie in America.

Star Traveler

If Saddam had existed in his spider-hole for another five years, would that have been a major accomplishment? Eh, I'm not quite convinced it would have been. Essentially that's all Laden has accomplished IMO.

Exactly right -

With that said UBL needs to be captured / killed for the justice of it, but also for the symbolic message it will send (both at home and on the Islamic street).

China I understand but why India? Is India going to slip a nuke into our country?

Seems to me that it is the evil doers who come from the middle east who will do the deed. Maybe China will be behind it and if so, they should pay. I don't see India working against us this way. I may be wrong, but I don't see it.

You said -- "Star, my point is that YOU, personally, don't feel that way. I'm quite sure of that."

You are correct. You read the previous comments correctly. I'm not sure why the other person was getting it wrong. Who knows...
