Media: Reports of secret CIA prisons in Europe where the Bush and Blair governments tortured suspected terrorists caused quite an uproar. But what if those prisons never existed?

Would The Washington Post and reporter Dana Priest return the Pulitzer Prize that was awarded just last week for the Post's coverage of those prisons? Not likely. They'd be far more likely to employ the Dan Rather/CBS fake-but-accurate defense.

While Priest and the Post bask in the sheen of a just-minted Pulitzer, the European Union's anti-terror chief said Thursday that even after more than 50 hours of testimony he has been unable to confirm a that single secret "rendition" prison exists in Europe.

The News Class has lost any semblance of control over itself.

Not "every" reporter and news outlet, of course, but the percentage of confirmable inaccuracy, blatant dishonestly and propagandizing in the industry is now high enough to make all news reporting inherently questionable.

Just finished watching a segment on the TODAY show about the gangs terrorizing Las Vegas. Security camera tapes show all the attackers black and all the victims white guess what NBC concluded...?

The biggest problem with the press, next to their blatant bias, is their absolute laziness. They take a source and run with the story without checking it out, especially if it fits their agenda. We've seen this multiple times, recently. Notable stories include this Gulag nonsense, the TANG/Bush documents, and the phony Iranian-forged Iraqi ballot story. You may as well read the tabloids.

This is worse than just liberals giving liberals awards. The Pulitzer Prize awards are the left circling the wagons around the "journalists" to protect them from criminal prosecution. I read this theory in a major blog that I wished I remembered so I could give credit. It's already proving true. Wolf Blitzer kept going on and on about award winning journalists.

President Bush should give awards to Libby and Rove, actually they were the ones telling the truth and Wilson was the liar.

Please, MSM. Give us the rules on noble whistle blowers, it always shifts, now why would that be?

I think the whole operation about these non-existent prisons was a sting to bring some of these leakers to the surface. The MSM is so lazy and biased that they ran with this fiction and now this is just another confirmation of it. A brilliant "gotcha" by some Bush insiders that not only smoked out the leakers, but put another nail in the coffin of MSM credibility.

I hope you are right and hopefully they can weed out some more RATS with it and then in a big way announce it was a hoax. Can you imagine how stupid the press will look after that? It would make Rather's fraud for 2004 look like child's play.

However I have no hope that are side will do just that. Just like the Iraq documents that have been released too late to disprove the media lies, the same will be done here. Our side has ZERO offense.
