No details, but the agent was caught dead to rights leaking....

Update: CIA Officer Fired for Leaking Classified Info to Media

WASHINGTON — A CIA officer has been relieved of his duty after being caught leaking classified information to the media.

CIA officials will not reveal the officer's name, assignment, or the information that was leaked. The firing is a highly unusual move, although there has been an ongoing investigation into leaks in the CIA.

One official called this a "damaging leak" that deals with operational information and said the fired officer "knowingly and willfully" leaked the information to the media and "was caught."

There's got to be money payout's buried in this somewhere.

Joe and Valerie Wilson bought a house I believe for $750,000 just a couple of months before he retired from his government job for a pension of $35,000. Valerie Wilson has also retired now, no idea what her pension would be but I'm sure with their lifestyles, their mortgage payment, donations to Kerry and the DNC, and high priced fancy cars wouldn't leave much for them to live on every month.

Here's a big one to add to your list - this info deserves above-the-fold treatment in every MSM newspaper in the land, but we know those fossils would not allow anything to contradict the "Bush lied" fantasy story line.

So, during the CLINTON administration we have Richard Clarke and Mary McCarthy certifying to Clinton and Algore that Iraq and Al Qaeda are both supporting development of VX nerve gas at the Al-Shifa plant in Khartoum, Sudan. How on earth do people like Richard Clarke and Mary McCarthy, Joe Wilson et al continue to get away with their nonsense when things like THIS are matters of public record:
------------------------------------------------------------
http://thomasjoscelyn.blogspot.com/2006/04/leaker-al-shifa.html

Two days before the embassy bombings, Clarke's staff wrote that Bin Ladin "has invested in and almost certainly has access to VX produced at a plant in Sudan." Senior State Department officials believed that they had received a similar verdict independently, though they and Clarke's staff were probably relying on the same report. Mary McCarthy, the NSC senior director responsible for intelligence programs, initially cautioned Berger that the "bottom line" was "we will need much better intelligence on this facility before we seriously consider any options." She added that the link between Bin Ladin and al Shifa was "rather uncertain at this point." Berger has told us that he thought about what might happen if the decision went against hitting al Shifa, and nerve gas was used in a New York subway two weeks later.

But as Daniel Benjamin, another former NSC staffer, wrote in October of 2004, McCarthy had changed her tune by April 2000:

The report of the 9/11 Commission notes that the National Security staff reviewed the intelligence in April 2000 and concluded that the CIA's assessment of its intelligence on bin Laden and al-Shifa had been valid; the memo to Clinton on this was cosigned by Richard Clarke and Mary McCarthy, the NSC senior director for intelligence programs, who opposed the bombing of al-Shifa in 1998. The report also notes that in their testimony before the commission, Al Gore, Sandy Berger, George Tenet, and Richard Clarke all stood by the decision to bomb al-Shifa.

Now, of course, Clarke and Benjamin argue that: (a) the decision to strike al-Shifa was justified because (b) the intelligence connecting Iraqi chemical weapons experts to al Qaeda's chemical weapons efforts was sound, but (c) this doesn't mean that Iraq and al Qaeda had a significant relationship because (d) somehow this collaboration occurred without either party realizing that it was working with the other! Sound bizarre? It is.

And don't miss this other gem via Thomas Joscelyn:

On November 4, 1998, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York unsealed its indictment of Bin Ladin, charging him with conspiracy to attack U.S. defense installations. The indictment also charged that al Qaeda had allied itself with Sudan, Iran, and Hezbollah. The original sealed indictment had added that al Qaeda had "reached an understanding with the government of Iraq that al Qaeda would not work against that government and that on particular projects, specifically including weapons development, al Qaeda would work cooperatively with the Government of Iraq." This passage led Clarke, who for years had read intelligence reports on Iraqi-Sudanese cooperation on chemical weapons, to speculate to Berger that a large Iraqi presence at chemical facilities in Khartoum was "probably a direct result of the Iraq-Al Qida agreement." Clarke added that VX nerve precursor traces found near al Shifa were the "exact formula used by Iraq."

How could she possibly believe she wouldn't get caught??

That is the question. This scumbag was NOT acting on any "principle" and she was certainly not acting alone - - she had a "handler". Will Goss be able to ferret out her handler? Who could it be? Who COULD it be....?

From Flopping Aces:

Haven’t seen it mentioned yet (still catching up on today’s threads and if I’m repeating something bear with me), so for reference’s sake I’ll add that the Center for International Policy was a spinoff of the Fund for Peace (Soviet/CPUSA moneylaundering conduit tied to the Institute for Policy Studies network) that was cofounded in 1975 by Lindsay Mattison and Orlando Letelier, an agent with links to Cuban and East German intelligence. Letelier was CIP’s director when William Goodfellow (a Pol Pot apologist mentioned above in the thread) was deputy director. CIP’s staff/advisors have included Anthony Lake (who temporarily replaced John Deutch as CIA Director and was in turn replaced by Sandy Berger at the Clinton NSC during the coverup of Chinagate and Deutch’s mishandling of classified information (see discussion at Post 35 and following); and D. Gareth Porter (aka Gary Porter, another Pol Pot apologist who worked for a North Vietnamese news bureau before becoming legislative aide to newly-elected Senator John Kerry in the early 80s), among others. These folks were actively involved in helping Kerry’s support of the Sandinistas in the 1980s and are mentioned in various literature on that topic.

An interesing comment on possible/likely "affirmative action" or "Democrat action" in the CIA during the Clinton years: "former spook" says that her promotion to National Intelligence Officer (NIO) in 1994 was a 'meteoric' rise compared to more distinguished people he knew who took much longer to reach that level:

http://formerspook.blogspot.com/2006/04/leaker.html

Equally interesting is her meteoric rise within the intelligence community. According to her bio, she joined the CIA as an analyst in 1984. Within seven years, she had rise to a Deputy NIO position, and reached full NIO status by 1994. To reach that level, she literally catapulted over dozens of more senior officers--and I'm guessing that her political connections didn't hurt. By comparison, I know a current NIO, with a resume and academic credentials more impressive than Ms. McCarthy's, who reached the position after more than 20 years of extraordinarily distinguished service. McCarthy's rapid advancement speaks volumes about how the Clinton Administration did business, and sheds new light on the intelligence failures that set the stage for 9-11. We can only wonder how many other political hacks climbed the intel food chain under Clinton--and remain in place to this day.

Unbelievable! You know, I think I've finally figured out what happened. Sometime around 1996, during you-know-who's occupation of the White House, we started going BACK in time . . . We're in 1984 now . . .

From Wikepedia......During the FBI investigation into Letelier's assassination, the contents of the briefcase he had with him were copied and leaked to Rowland Evans and Robert Novak of the Washington Times before being returned to his widow.

More about the org McCarthy's husband, Goodfellow, works with....

Wikepedia search on Orlando Letelier: "Although potentially explosive, the supposed contents of the briefcase proved not to be damaging to the reputations of either Letelier or of the Institute for Policy Studies. Opponents of Letelier and the IPS complained that leading news media in the United States, including the New York Times and the Washington Post refused to cover the story and even rejected paid advertisements referring to the matter. Supporters of Letelier and the IPS feared that public knowledge the contents of the briefcase might turn the assassination into merely a case of spy vs. spy."

Gary Porter, Guy Gran and William Goodfellow (Indochina Resource Center, Center for International Policy, etc). who denied, before Congress, that the Khmer Rouge were practicing genocide in Cambodia, and at the very time that it was happening. Even liberal Rep. Stephen Solarz (D-NY), 1976 hearings, literally called them liars and psychopaths. (Probably House Foreign Affairs or International Affairs Committee, subcommittee on Asia, hearings, 1976-77. Might be entitled "Human Rights in Cambodia".

Prof. George McT. Kahin, in his book on "The US in Vietnam" devoted only one line to Ho Chi MInh's bloody repression in the North during the "Land Reform" and "Land Rectification" programs in which tens of thousands of "landlords" were slaughtered. Figures range from 50,000 to 500,000.

Harrison Salisbury was a good propagandist for Hanoi (N Y Times).

Here comes another predictable slam -- to be broadcast tomorrow night on where else: SeeBS 60 Minutes:

Report: Ex-CIA Official Blasts White House

Sat Apr 22, 9:47 PM ET

WASHINGTON - The former chief of the CIA's European operation is accusing the White House of ignoring the spy agency's doubts that Iraq had a budding nuclear program or weapons of mass destruction as the U.S. prepared for war.

"The policy was set. The war in Iraq was coming and they were looking for intelligence to fit into the policy," Tyler Drumheller told CBS' "60 Minutes" for an interview to be broadcast Sunday night. The network released excerpts ahead of the airing.

The White House has denied that intelligence, while flawed, was exaggerated or manipulated in the months before the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

Drumheller, who retired last year, said the White House ignored crucial information from a high and credible source who claimed that there were no active programs for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. "60 Minutes" identified the source as Iraq's foreign minister, Naji Sabri, with whom U.S. spies had made a deal.

CIA Director George Tenet delivered the information to President Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and other high-ranking officials in September 2002, according to Drumheller. A few days later the administration said it was no longer interested.

Drumheller said he was told about the exchange that followed: "And we said, 'Well, what about the intel?' And they said, 'Well, this isn't about intel anymore. This is about regime change.'"

CIA spokesman Tom Crispell said Saturday that Drumheller's remarks do not reflect the views of the agency.

It is scary reading this thread. Coupled with an hour or two of googling, the amount of information I found is vast. And I am no data miner. I would love to see the professionally compiled dossiers on McCarthy and her husband. I am sure it would be fascinating reading. Suppose they plan on releasing all this material before the elections.....with Tony Snow fielding questions from the press? Should be more interesting times ahead! Sure, CIA official has links to socialists and communists and tries to take down a President in a time of war, but what's going on with the Duke lacrosse players!

John Kerry and his anti-American IPS playmates

Gerard Jackson
BrookesNews.Com
Monday 23 August 2004

In the mid-80s the Senate Subcommittee on Narcotics, Terrorism and International Operations was set up with John Kerry's help. What became known as the "John Kerry Committee" quickly became a vicious means of opposing President Reagan's policy of ridding Central America of Marxist-Leninist thugs.

snip

John Kerry put Gary Porter, a fellow of the IPS, on his payroll as a legislative aid. This is of particular interest because Kerry's anti-defense and intelligence voting record exactly mirrors the IPS's anti-defense and anti-intelligence proposals, which in turn toed the Soviet line.

snip

It was the pro-Castro Richard Barnet, cofounder of the IPS, who accused the CIA of being a "criminal enterprise that must be dismantled". Kerry agreed with Barnet to the extent that even after the 1993 Twin Towers bombing he still tried to slash intelligence spending.

Porter and Peter Kornbluh, another pro-Soviet member of the IPS, helped arrange Kerry and Harkin's 1984 trip to Managua, the result of which persuaded the Senate to vote against the Contras.

"crucial information from a high and credible source"

This is another steaming pile of liberal excrement. Treating the FM of Iraq under Saddam as a 'credible' source on denying Iraq's WMDs and WMD programs would be preposterous, absurd, idiotic. Saddam was desperate to get rid of sanctions and avert a US invasion - Iraqi officials would say anything to further those ends, no matter what the truth might be. As a matter of fact, the last time this former FM was discussed awhile back, I recall that he was confirming some bio and chem programs but was denying nukes. so even if THAT were the true scoop, this Tyler Drumheller is an incompetent boob if he thinks that info should have been reassuring.

ALSO, in a regime like Saddam's, there would be absolutely no reason to believe that the FM or many other officials would have any current idea about secretive programs. It was well known before that Saddam kept nearly all of his people in the dark as much of the time as possible, especially about such sensitive subjects. Tyler Drumheller is an IMBECILE, and the fact that he advanced far in the CIA is a severe indictment of that organization.
