Update: CIA Officer Fired for Leaking Classified Info to Media
WASHINGTON A CIA officer has been relieved of his duty after being caught leaking classified information to the media.
CIA officials will not reveal the officer's name, assignment, or the information that was leaked. The firing is a highly unusual move, although there has been an ongoing investigation into leaks in the CIA.
One official called this a "damaging leak" that deals with operational information and said the fired officer "knowingly and willfully" leaked the information to the media and "was caught."
Nope, i was just splainin for ya. Some people don't see sarc right away.
bttt!
Is Cynthia McKinney in the ring? :)
What happened to that news story that was posted here at FR that the NYTimes ran that we all thought was leaked info?
The Dems have quieted down during the past week. They got the word that this was coming. We need a name and the political connections.
Obviously you are the only one who took it that way and made your own post look childish instead.
We finally have something to celebrate - something we've been waiting for a long time to BEGIN to happen so let's let the nitpickin go. :o)
NBC: CIA officer fired after admitting leak

Updated: 3:33 p.m. ET April 21, 2006
In a rare occurrence, the CIA fired an officer who acknowledged giving classified information to a reporter, NBC News reported on Thursday. The agencys spokeswoman confirmed the firing.
The officer flunked a polygraph exam before being fired on Wednesday and is now under investigation by the Justice Department, NBC reported.
The leak pertained to stories on the CIAs rumored secret prisons in Eastern Europe, sources told NBC. The information was allegedly provided to Dana Priest of the Washington Post, who wrote reports about CIA prisons in November 2005 and was awarded a Pulitzer Prize on Monday for her reporting.
Priest said she could not comment on the firing, which she said she learned about from NBC News.
This leak is not linked to the recent scandal in the CIA involving undercover agent Valerie Plames identity being revealed, NBC reported.
Separately, the Justice Department is investigating a New York Times stories about the National Security Agencys domestic warrantless eavesdropping. Times reporter James Risen won a Pulitzer on Monday for his reporting on the issue.
The NSA and other agencies had requested the probe, sources told NBC.

oh goodie, it's Friday!!!!! Chrissy has Scarborough, Carlson, and Cosby on to ditto whatever he wants them to say, and they get to giggle and feign wisdom all at the same time.
Basically, Matthews' Friday show is a promo, MSNBC's pathetic way of trying to generate some ratings for all their shows, and gives Matthews his little "I'm the boss" pedestal. MSNBC is flipping some of their times starting next week, and they will replay Olberman's show at 9am the following day.
You have to wonder why MSNBC doesn't figure it out. Their ratings suck because political junkies prefer FOXNews. If MSNBC can't fire Matthews because of his contract, at least they should promote him to a behind the camera position with a big title, and let a real journalist take the Hardball helm.
But till they do, Chrissy is good for comic relief. Laura Ingraham had a ball this morning making fun of his show last night when he was so goofy, counting raised hands of his audience members. more like Sesame Street than a political poll.
Now you know why Rockefeller had a fit about being asked to take a polygraph test
Just waiting for all the "Empire Strikes Back" headlines
Another bright-eyed, bushy-tailed troll?
give the perp a choice: drop a dime on all the leakers to the dummies or life in the slammer. cooperate or rot in solitary like Pollard.
I suspect the next thing we'll see & hear is this agent's face as they go public everywhere saying "I am a whistleblower" and was "fired for disclosing information about this Administration's illegal activities."
No shame. No sense of decency. This person's handlers will no doubt tell them the best defense will be an aggressive offense.
Wasn't that the gameplan for the NSA folks? Ridiculously in my estimation it seemed to work for them.
I hope Rockefeller gets his and SOON!
