Update: CIA Officer Fired for Leaking Classified Info to Media

WASHINGTON — A CIA officer has been relieved of his duty after being caught leaking classified information to the media.

CIA officials will not reveal the officer's name, assignment, or the information that was leaked. The firing is a highly unusual move, although there has been an ongoing investigation into leaks in the CIA.

One official called this a "damaging leak" that deals with operational information and said the fired officer "knowingly and willfully" leaked the information to the media and "was caught."

I think Beltway Boys is taped on Friday. They often omit late-breaking stories. What a shame. I'd love to have heard them hash this one over.

Thanks for posting the pic of Mr uh Goodfellow.

In exploring the website of of Mr Goodfellow, I see that Patrick Fitzgerald is apparently a hero to this CIP group. Not surprising, is it?

I heard it and I'd like to know who he was leaking to
////////////////////////////////////////////

If its the same incident, it was linked on Drudge last night. It was a woman named Mary McCarthy. Clinton hire, fairly high up who stayed on under Pres Bush. and fed a reporter items about secret interrogation prisons, and NSA program facts.

What are the Beltway Boys afraid of?

I've noticed the media tends to be 2-3 days behind Freepers and other in the research department of gathering information

They should be all over it come Monday

Could someone bring me up to date on Larry Johnson? I remember something about him in the Plame affair. But it seems like there was a point where he became like a nutty Bill Burkett and I stopped paying any attention to anything about him.

Now I can't remember what he was "famous" for. (Was it speculated that he was the "stranger" who talked to Bob Novak on the street?)

Linking CIP and IPS is very significant, for IPS is truly a far-left treasonous group founded by commies and fellow-travelers. IPS is the "granddaddy" of all the leftist activist and influence groups in DC that have sprung up like poisonous mushrooms since the 1960s.

likewise on my other boards...
It seems to be a coordinated attempt to cover up for McCarthy by saying "We aren't the ONLY ones who leak!!"

We have to HAMMER HOME that while they have, and have ONLY ever had ACCUSATIONS, we have a CONFESSION, and clear documented FACTS...........

Ms. Farnsworth also wrote admiringly to Letelier of the good work that "Bill Goodfellow" was accomplishing for the revolution.

And that's just what this is to them ... they're aging 60's selfish, freelove, pot-fractured, hippy revolutionaries who always have to have "the cause," stubbornly indifferent to the risks, costs and losses.

Dana Priest is obviously married to a true insurgent, unfit to be anywhere near having input to US policy. What these two are doing is nothing short of diabolical.

I think stations like FNC like to check out and verify informaiton before they report in detail on it

I don't expect shows like Oberman to cover this story in detail

Add in this particular piece from WorldNet about Sandy Berger....

Sandy Berger faces Bar complaint
Judicial Watch charges former national security adviser
Posted: May 19, 2005
6:33 p.m. Eastern

WASHINGTON – Sandy Berger, the former national security adviser who pleaded guilty to charges of stealing classified material from the National Archives and lying to federal investigators, now faces an effort to disbar him in the nation's capital.

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates corruption in government, said today it has filed a formal bar complaint against Berger with the Office of Bar Counsel for the District of Columbia Bar.

The rules of professional conduct for an attorney in the District of Columbia prohibit a lawyer from committing a criminal act that reflects adversely on trustworthiness; engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, deceit or misrepresentation; and acting in a manner that seriously interferes with the administration of justice, according to Judicial Watch.

The stolen documents were copies of highly secret memorandum, possibly with handwritten notes, that allegedly were critical of the Clinton administration’s response to the "Millennium 2000" terror plot to bomb the Los Angeles International Airport.

Berger, who was an adviser to the presidential campaign of Sen. John Kerry when the scandal broke, has held multiple national security jobs since the Carter administration and recently was a foreign policy adviser to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Berger initially said he took copies of the classified documents regarding terrorism from the National Archives by "accident" and then misplaced them in what he described as an "honest mistake." He later admitted, however, that after pilfering the documents, he destroyed three of the five with scissors at the office of his consulting firm.

Berger is scheduled to be sentenced July 8 and is expected to be fined $10,000 and suffer a temporary loss of his security clearance. However, the deal reportedly allows Berger to reapply for his clearance before the change in administrations in 2008.
