A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
received this in my email June 10th, the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

I've been finding a lot of things funny today. Just feeling silly I guess. About bedtime for me. I'm wondering where my Sistah is tonight. Prayers for her and for all. Goodnight.

Hi & Happy T.G.I.F. to you to Victoria :) Thanks for the ping...Did you make your gif?
To: Purple Mountains Maj
Hi Maj!! No I didn't make it, I did fix it though, lol. you know.... I cleaned up the background, but that's about it.
To: Victoria Delsoul
Well I'm even impressed that you know how to do any changes to it! & re my last post too not to. :)
To: Purple Mountains Maj
I know a few little things... not much.
To: snugs
That is a wonderful collage
you have really put a lot of time into it! In your program do you have the ability to save it both in jpg & also the "workable" form where you can change, move things? I do with Picture It. what program are you using now? (I KNOW YOU HAVE TOLD ME SEVERAL TIMES!)
I am not sure if it is just me or it seems the queen is happier in photos the past couple years. I am liking her "look" better also. She tends to be classic which is okay but over the years it was too matronly & she is an attractive woman & wears clothes well. Love the hats. I wish they would be more popular here in US again. I still wear them often because I like them!
I love to add scarfs & what nots to them
not been to bed yet. Saw movie the Sentinel last night & posted the ATRW week=end thread.. it is an easy one compared to here. The movie was good. I like Michael Douglas & also Kiefer Sutherland & have NOT seen Kim Bassinger in a film for a LONG time. An interesting twist on Secret Service & a "plot". It was my friend's choice & I had planned on seeing it anyway.

you have a lot of knowledge talent & creativity.. just finding the projects that interest you to pursue is the key IMHO. One will always find people who know MORE, do better etc.. that is life
You did a bang up job on the thread & music for singles.. it wasn't your fault the main thread did not format like you planned. It was okay but I KNOW not what you worked up. that is the problem when other's post your work.
I have have had that happen a few times. I have folks have problems just posting a url that I work up for them!
sigh.

you will love photo editing Maj.. with your creativity & enthusiasm, that is your next step. Find an easy program to start with. I started with (and am back to) Picture It from Microsoft. It might be on your computer & if not it is a fairly inexpensive program.
I repurchased it for this new computer. I need to again try to reload Photoshop6 onto this computer. I was making headway last year learning it(It is a hard program) & then "lost" my computer to a hacker.

loved your cooking stories.. you have other talents other than the kitchen miss Nan.
:-)
LOVE the pix of Em at beach.. were you with them? what beach?
Is this the child of your photographer son?
I am working through ideas/timing for our Ohio/WV get together..
What are good days for you & Kathy?.. others are flexible WITH NOTICE. I am looking at Warther's in Dover at this point. There are restaurants nearby but I was thinking of bringing lunch for everyone perhaps to make it simpler. There are picnic tables at the site. We need to decide if we will include/invite men FReepers or if this will be a "gal only" event. when Lori & Amy visited last year, several men invited themselves to meet them!!!!!
Warther's sells the best cutlery in the world (MHO).. I intend to get some & toss the collection of sorry knives I now use.
warther's museum & gift shop. You all need to trust me. This will be one of the finest experiences you will have in a long time!

Hi Meg.. I need to try to sleep! I just had some left over Thai food & am having second glass of wine. Hopefully that will help!
Very Foggy here. Just had pooches out for one last "watering" & we will crash! Had a lot of rain last evening. I was only home for about hour & half yesterday afternoon but I resisted the temptation to go to computer & got that time in for needed mowing.

I have been trying to get my days and nights normal..I sleep well but am a night owl and tend to stay up at times and delay normal bedtime at least 8 hours..
I got up around 3:30am..I just skip whole nights of sleep and then sleep in the afternoon..at least I have gotten "go to bed time" to early evening.
I can afford to do this at my age..most younger folks cannot! Hope you get some rest, Dolly.
