MOSCOW — Russia's Foreign Ministry said Friday the U.N. Security Council cannot consider levying sanctions against Iran until it's proven Tehran's nuclear program is not exclusively for peaceful purposes, a Russian news agency reported.
Russian officials had said previously that they were awaiting an April 28 report by the head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, Mohamed ElBaradei, before deciding Moscow's position on further steps to resolve the Iran crisis.

Ping!
I think the proof would be loud.
The proof was already loud. With the Iranian President screaming Israel should be wiped off the map, I think that giving them any nuclear capability would be obviously dangerous.

In general, I trust the Russians.
But the proof exists. It exists in the announcements that we hear daily.
Rafsanjani is a blowhard troublemaker who shouldn't be trusted as far as we could throw him.
And the current Ayatollah is just as loonytunes.
Despite strong opposition from the United States, Russia announced that it would honor its commitments on supplying Tor-M1 air defense systems to Iran, the Itar-Tass news agency reported.

And with that, there will be no santions coming from the "League of Nations". Why do we bother with them anymore.
Once again the UN will turn a blind eye towards a crisis. Can we NOW GET THEM OUT OF THE US AND THE US OUT OF THE UN.
Maybe someday a Saudi or UAE cargo jet will be hijacked and flown into the UN building, because that is what it will take to get rid of the UN from our soil.
Maybe when that Israeli ball hits the bottom of the hourglass the proof will pop out from inside it?
For Putin, a mushroom cloud over DC or NYC would be all the evidence he needs.
Great minds think alike.
I remember the 60's and 70's when Iran was one of the progressive jewels of the mideast. I went to college with quite a few of them, and they were truly trying to be intellectuals and moderates.
Then the Islamic Fundamentalists took over and ran the place into the ground, just like Lebanon and half a dozen other mideast/African/Southeast Asian countries.
Trying to live in a 17th century dog-eat-dog desert in the 21st century.
Burden of proof is on the wrong foot here.
Proof? Would a very large mushroom cloud over Israel suffice ... bozo?
Remember that "mother russia" when we decide to act unilaterally and remove irans nuclear facilities from the planet.
Moscow wants proof?
First, prove to me that Pooty-Poot really has a soul, and that it wasn't just a reflection that GWB was seeing as he peered into his eyes.
Once KGB, *ALWAYS* KGB.
How's THAT for proof, eh Pooty-Poot?
Looks like WWIII is going to be one helluva bitch.
Note to self: Put in really big garden this spring, buy plenty of chickens, and finish off inside-only chicken coop. And buy lots of warm clothes and blankets.
I'm definitely considering buying a house with a garden to do the same.

Think about the strategic situation from the Russian standpoint. Tehran gets the bomb and hits Israel (and maybe the U.S.). The Israelis and Americans respond with nukes of their own. The Palestinians rise up and remove a weakened Israel from the Middle East. The Russians move into Iran "to restore order." When the dust clears, Russia controls a central region in the Middle East and a large part of the world's oil supply. Israel has ceased to exist, and the U.S. comes off as an international villain for using nukes.
As I understand, Russia originally supported Israel's in its formation at the UN.
Not to worry they've been making up for it ever since, arming every country that took up arms against Israel. As for proof, they already have the proof available form the UN showing Iran's nuclear intentions and of course, Iran is fully stocked with their people who provide direct insight on the matter.
So for Pukey, it isn't about any national principle, it's about sticking it to the US.
The President is up against it and needs to call in a card. And a big one.
But at this point with the machinery in place, nothing is going to stop the mullahs, sanctions or no sanctions. They could care less and they don't believe their will be any heavy sanctions anyway.
They've got Russia and as a a result, they will have China too.
I have to ask, are you off your rocker or what? If Israel has nukes, they've had them for a good number of years, and not set them off in spite of any number of provocations from other states. To suggest that Israel is going to let loose nuclear weapons irresponsibly is dire nonsense. On the other hand, Iran has specifically spoken aloud about wiping Israel off the map. The President said it, it's on the record, there is no denying it. Given this murderous intent, to allow the tools by which that intent could be achieved is madness.
But you're too busy worrying about Israel to care.
