No it hasn't. You like to give that lip service, but some other posts show that you think it's perfectly fine as long as MS makes money off it.
For instance, your quote "As for Microsoft, their behavior is now deplorable too, but what other options are there?" indicates that it is perfectly acceptable to do business in China since you don't see any other options.
There have been others, but that is the most recent example.

Like I said -- an OS is not National Security-type stuff.
Intellectual property from the U.S. shouldn't be going to communist countries AT ALL, but if it is, there better be a good reason for it, and IMO if it is allowed at all it should be heavily tariffed, like 10x the normal cost.
Allowing communist countries like China to get FREE software, with no charge or tariff AT ALL is absurd. All they'll do is exactly what we're already seeing, they'll make free legal copies, rename them "Red Flag", then pass laws requiring all their government computers use some version of it.
Do you deny that Red Flag is a free copy of Red Hat, which is made in the US? Do you deny the Chinese goverment standard software is this copy called "Red Flag", and that they have provisions requiring open source on all their government computers? You will probably try to deny, but you know this is true.
The real question is, how can you stand here and ask us if we want ANY technology transfers to China, when you so openly support FREE technology for China through open source?
I would love to see when I denied that the Chinese are using Linux.
Well, you are Microsoft's greatest cheerleader, and have stated multiple times that it's okay for China to get technology as long as they pay for it.
Bill Gates is late to the China party, companies like IBM were kissing up to them long ago.
Along with Cisco, Sun, Oracle, HP, Dell, etc. They all have to pander to the Chicoms in order to gain access to the market with its massive potential sales.
And then run their supercomputers on it! I know it's true, because GE told me so.
You forget the fact that Red Hat got Linux from somewhere else, and back, and back, all tracing back to Finland.
No one has ever denied it, you've just always indicated it should have been freely given away in the first place. That's ultimately what you'd like to Microsoft do as well, turn the software over to Kofi and let everyone in the world do whatever they want with it.
Sorry, but that's not how those richest Americans from the technology sector made their money. Not by giving their stuff away. Nor are they about to now, no matter how many Stallmans try to trick them into it.

No it's originally a foreign copy, I mention it all the time. Too bad our traditional Unix companies like Sun, SCO, Silicon Graphics and Cray got crushed in the process.
IBM is the biggest IT vendor in the world, period.
Red Hat didn't write Linux. You also don't realize that Red Flag is no longer directly based on Red Hat, but is based on Asianux, which is based on Red Hat and partially run by Oracle, an American company, which has collaborated with Red Hat and Novell on various enhancements to Linux. Wow, full circle almost.
Save it we have all seen you pity poor MS as being forced to work with the chicoms while you condemn IBM as having all the choice in the world..
Yeah we know, everything's based on a free copy of Red Hat, including Red Flag and Asianux. None of that matters, the question is, do we sell the Chinese software, give it to them free, or give them none at all. Your answer is always "give it to them for free". Why else would you be hounding Bill Gates now?
I'm against this, freetraitors should know. Where are they all, you know they're loving this. How much did Microsoft get out of this, though anyway? Wasn't it over a Billion US$? Probably the same billion they got from IBM.
